here is my opininion on the ar5:

I have the 03-04s, and I have ridden them for a season and a half which is about 45 days on probably 40% park 60% all mountain. I find these skis to be quite lightweight- they are just a bit heavier than the old lines (I don't know how heavy the new ones are, I had the orange skogans) which is really light. However, they are still very sturdy for all mountain riding with their super stiff tails. Durability wise, they aren't great, but they aren't that bad either. Right now the tops are covered in chips, however this doesn't affect the ride. The bases seem a bit thin and I have collected many core shots. The edges are all cracked up under the bindings and are starting to curl up at some of the cracks, but they have seen a lot of rails, so I don't really know. I am hoping to get one more season out of them but I kind of don't think they'll make it. Anyways, these skis are really fun to ride and really light, but not the greatest as far as being able to stop bullets.

 
Keep in mind they changed the topsheet and a lot of the way the ski was made for the 04/05 season.. i have heard nothing but good reviews on them, thats why i got a pair. can't wair to use them next season

 
have anyone used the ar5s for backcountry riding? i know they are a park ski, but i wanna find a ski with a park/backcountry ride to them. ive used skis 60 in the waist in backcountry so im sure 80 in the waist would be fine.

 
i have the '04-'05 AR5's......I love them..the only problem was that the first day i used them the top sheet started peeling off...and it only got worse from there..it doesnt affect the performance of the ski though, so its all good....i took them out to salt lake and they were okay in powder...other skis such as the karmas worked much better..but if u dont ski pow on a regular basis and u want a SICK ski than this is the ski for u..

 
thanks man, i like skiing pow more than the park and i also hear the arv's are pretty sick in the park as well so i think im gonna do the arv's with some look bindings. should be a pretty sick combo
