Armada ANT Surprising!

I just got my pair of the ANTs and got to use them today for the first time. They are surprisingly good on almost everything. Even in the tight trees i can manouver them . They maye take about 50m to carve a true "racing" carve but they work awesome on everything else even moguls! i was pleasently surprised.

ps. incase you are wondering i got them mounted at recomended they are perfect there.

I'm jealous, you hid my skis under yours today and pretended you didn't see mine! Now I'm going to eat my feelings away! JERK!

powder day hahah no like 5cm maybe deffinatly not powder chooped up crud on most runs some ice they worked good

my maidens are so fun on groomers and moguls and stuff too, you can seriously go straight through mogul runs and just like plow through them.

I had mine in the park for a last few runs of the day.. They weren't that bad at all.. I was very suprised! Even in the Pipe, but kinda grabby on rails...

yeah wide skis are hard to get used to on rails, but after you get used to them they are sooo good, they just like lock on and keep going, like i was at steamboat this weekend with my stl's and they had an s-rail, i got it like once out of every like 5 tries, then i used my maidens and i got it like almost every time.

Capial El Jefe......

MUAHAHAHAHAA.

ANTs fucking rock.

Really would enjoy a pair, but I think they would be too much for me evereyday ski.

I can't imagine trying to power ANTs if I weighed less than I do.

Tony has even said they are too stiff for him at times and I guarantee he's more powerful than most on here.

you know, it isn't a weight thing for me.

I think I would be ok as far as that goes.

It is more the length. 191....I'm 5'10".

Charging - they would be fucking dope.

In trees and bumps, though, I feel like sometime the Ant would just flip me over and fuck me right there on the slopes.

hmmmmm...this would be sick, though.

If they made a Super Ant - added some width to the ski ~ 145/120/135 ish, at 191 and that stiffness.

BOING. Boner City if you ask me.

Yea it's long. But, I think it would be tough for someone in the 150 - 160 pound range to power the ANT at all.

Like Sean said, that's why there are Capitals.

It wouldn't be for everyday.

it would be a pow ski.

FFF seems similar to me.

190, 145/118/137

I wonder want the ANT is along the Igneous stiffness scale.....

Luke - any idea.

Explosiv ~ 240

B3 ~ 220 (I think)

Fuck dude, 240 on the Iggy scale is comparable to an Exploder? And your FFF's are 265?!? I never knew they were that stiff. SICK.

I haven't had much time on Exploders, but I'd put the ANT in a similar stiffness category as them. The ANT is definitely stiffer than the 195 B3's I was on.

yeah, 265 is fucking stiff.

Natty Dread just got a FFF in 240. he said the 265 was too stiff for him everyday (yes - he was skiing them everyday). He fucking rips though - so much sicker than me.

Buster Highmen (Bruce - you'll get to meet him if you ever make it to Xtal ) has a fucking pair, mounted with fritschis, that are 300!!!!!!!!1 Holy fuck.

Skier666 i believe has a pair of Igneous FC that are 300+.

Im gonna look up what the stiffness scale was again.

I believe the Ants seem stiff than the Ex. That is pretty darn stiff.

Iggy Stiffness Comparisons.

180 = Ak Launcher

Stockli Asteroid - 250-260

Explosive - 220-240

Team GS Race Ski = 260+

Rossi XXXX - 280!!!!!!

kind of an idea.

basically anything over 240 is stiffer than more skis out there.

Better construction, prettier topsheet, only a few more $$ than I could get a new gotama for now.

I can customize the stiffness of the ski completely.

I also get to choose the core, so how damp and heavy the ski will be.

Twin tip isn't so askward.

and, if you haven't been able to tell with the multiple pairs of iggies and colored ski, I like unique skis that now ones has (even if it is just a graphic), particularly unique skis made custom for ME by small companies of core guys just trying to spread the love, as opposed to big companies.

Plus - I already have a 183 gotama for touring.....what would I want 2 of the same ski.

The Rossi XXXX is basically Hugos ski.

There has been a few differnt ones floating around the last couple of years, varying in stiffness and size.

basically, though, about 100 in the waist, stiffer than anything you'd ever want to ski, and ~198 long.

yeah.....to me that just sounds painful

but i thought you were getting rid of the 189 seths to make room for an everyday ski. the el jefe seems too much like the gotama (since you said you are going to make the el jefe stiff) to have a need for it. you confuse the hell out of me scoot dog.

I believe I see what is confusing you....

Gots would be a more ideal everyday ski for me.

The capitals will be that everyday ski for me.

So...why not use the gots?

Gots are my touring ski. Mounted with FR.

FR - weak, high up on ski, more fragile.

Skiing them everyday, for me, will break them.

El Jefe will get P18 or s916.

El Jefe and Gots are gonna be very similar. They just will be used for two different things.

make more sense??

not like shit.

just not like a p18 or s916.

they are lifted off the ski, which i dont like in pow. to be light, they need plastic. they also release into touring mode when skiing = not good.

the ski fine, to those looking into them.

but just not something I want to ski everyday in bounds.

I ride the ANTs as well. I have a pair of AR5s for the park but I like the width and stability of the ANTs everywhere. I am 6' 198lbs. The ski handles amazing for someone my size and weight with a good skiing background. The are not something to get backseat on, they are scary at times when you get them out of control. I remember one occasion at the beginning of the season bombing down this really steep face that closed out almost with trees and rocks right at the end so you had to just point your skis straight to get through. a couple small turns into my run and the whole face was sloughing and I was hitting a rock on every turn, so I pointed from the top and threaded the needle through the rocks and treee and out onto the actual open bowl where everyone skis. I thought for sure I was down because the bowl was the worst looking chopped pow and traverese tracks but the skis didnt even move. not a single chatter. honestly a hot knife in butter. I rode the scratches and pistols before these and I would of been fucking dead on those skis. The ANT is hands down amazing. Its suprisingly responsive and just a tank in choppy conditions. but I was wondering to what is the ANT on the stiffness scale?

As far as twins go, the ANT is one of the stiffest around.

However, it's not that stiff compared to some other sticks on the market.

After skiing m103s more and more, the ANT feels fairly soft.
