Arizona State University

I search barred with no results. Does anyone know anything about the skiing around ASU? Im thinking its the perfect school for me, excepts the skiing and arizona part. Anyone who has gone, knows skiers from there, or has any information, it would be really appriciated. I saw they have a ski club... Thanks for any information!

northern arizona university is in flagstaff, so the best skiing would be there. not much skiing around phoenix i don't think. better off going to U of A in Tucson. better school and apparently mt. lemmon opens a few months out of the year.

i hear it has a fairly strong engineering department.

i also hear that they'll pay your whole tuition if you got a national merit semifinalist or something like that.

^^^^^ its a nice place to go if you have an STD or want to acquire one

PS: Don't choose your college based on good skiing, thats about the dumbest reason to choose a school

Keep in mind that about 0.6% of people who apply for national merit scholarships become semifinalists...

if you get a qualifying PSAT score of around 209-224, depending on state, you get semi finalist automatically

i dunno, i thought i'd mention it because it can be a big factor for those who do well on the PSAT

i just thought i'd throw it in there

I disagree. I only looked at college where skiing was accessible. There are enough colleges that you can find one thats good for you where there is skiing. I don't think I would be happy going to a college where I coudn't ski in the winter, whats the points of picking a college thats really good, but there's no skiing so your not happy.

I think a lot of people on this site will agree with me that they want to be around skiing. So I disagree that its the dumbest reason to pick a school.
I didnt choose a skiing school, or like one right by skiing, But will be attending Seattle University next year. So I can ski. Would not want to be somewhere I couldn't.

after the whole honorary obama degree thing John Stewart ripped that school to bits on the Daily Show, pretty hilarious

I disagree. You need to be near things outside of school that you love and enjoy. Being stuck at a school with great academics but nothing else to do won't be fun. Need to have a well balance between Academics, social life, and your surroundings.

I agree but you can do this without skiing

but if skiing means that much to you then you wouldnt consider arizona

EHeath just told me to tell you to just come to utah so you can sleep in his bed.... shits comfy.

yea my parents both went to U of A and loved it. they skiid at lemmon all the time and went to utah with the club alot too.

my friend went to ASU, he never drank a beer all through high school, started at asu became an alcoholic and flunked out and now hes in the miltary. all i have to say is keep yourself under control with the partying cause it can and will suck people in. but flagstaff is a few hours away and has ok skiing. its more of a warm sunny weather party school hype type of college.

I live in Tucson. If you wish to ski you don't want to go to ASU or U of A. Lemmon is a joke and a half.

Maybe NAU, in flagstaff. I havnt ridin snowbowl for 3 years. but you want to avoid sunrise.

I understand some people on here are more serious about their skiing than others. basically if it really matters to you, and park skiing with other decet park skiers is important than i would avoid Arizona, unless being better than everyone on the entire resort gives you a thrill.

Also you completely loose the idea of skiing as important amonsgt the general population.

who would go to AZ to ski? I m choosing based on the industrial design program, but skiing is a bonus. I'm no dumby, I just lyk to ski.

if you spell "what" "wut" your SAT scores probably aren't good enough.

seriously though, the national merit scholarship is actually based off the PSAT's. If you are in the top few percentile, you automatically are a semifinalist. So if you are applying to colleges now, you should have already taken the PSAT a while ago, on your report thing you got back from it it should have told you what percentile you are in.

Yeah i live in Flagstaff, Az and Snowbowl is up here and the skiing is alright and will be getting better. we have been having good seasons latley but its really hit or miss.

can you take the PSATs your senior year? and i dont spelll "what" "wut" on SATs or anything that is not just online spelling doesnt matter stuff thankyou.

oops i didnt realize that i was on my boyfriends account wen i bumped that but no worries i had his permission to b on his accoun

Every year when the college rankings come out (the legit ones), ASU is always #1 in the best looking girls, cause %75 of em look like this:

come on bro, my girlfriend saw they have a ski club on their site, and wants some details on it, she didnt come on here to hear about the girls or STDs or partying. she almost didnt want to bump this because of annoying, immature, little shits like yourself. if youve ever been apart of their club, or know anything about it, ever skied around their, or know anyone who has even, or at least have something to contribute to the thread then please post. otherwise get the fuck out.

ski gabber is her only hope, theres no arizona in regionals

my buddy was in it, its called the snowdevils and they do a trip once or twice a year. i went with him one year. we took a 22 hour bus ride from az to co to ski for a week. everyone on the bus was only there to party and there was a case of beer under every other seat. thus the stopping every two hours so people could puke or eat or go to the bathroom. it was only suppose to be a 10 hour drive.

Are you sure about their Industrial Design program? I know their Graduate level program in ranked in the top 10 or something, but I've never heard anything about their undergrad. And why would you settle on the hottest part of the entire US if you are considering skiing?

me and my friends did, i heard one girl say she knew how to ski but she was going to try snowboarding for the first time. such a waste

Oh and I live in Colorado, but one of my best friends at school here is from Tempe and he just said the skiing is crap, or 15 hours away. Not my words, but thought it might help.

Yeah i hear theres great skiing in the desert.
