Just booked a flight the other day...Im going down for a month and a half...Las Lenas, then over to chile...we got hooked up with a new cat ski place to do a story and only pay $30 USD per day...fuckin stoked. I know Eroll Clarke is down there now, anyone else got plans? Once the Santa Rosa comes through its gonna dump 10ft...

If anyone has any ideas on where to stay in Las Lenas please let me know...the place is pretty much fully booked till mid sept.

only cost $1009 after tax USD...super cheap.

I'm gonna go to Cerro Castor and then Bariloche the 3rd week of August; won't have enough time for Las Lenas :-(

 
IUm going down on the 5th for 2 weeks. i am staying at the Celix Hotel, its about a 5 minute bus ride to the mountain. but im going with south america snow sessions, but im sure that there is room available at the Celix.

Hopefully we will see you down there.

Both Chile & Argentina have now stable governments. The fact that a few tourists got mugged by some not-so-well intentionned people doesn't mean it's Bagdad.

I just arrived in Santiago, Chile...my home for a year. The biggest ski resort in the southern hemisphere (valle nevado) is only 1.5 hours away and im heading there this weekend and hopefully every weekend and wednesday (my day off) from now until the end of the season. I'll let you know how the snow is when i get back on sunday night.

P.S. Argentina and Chile are both now stable countries and you are more likely to be killed by a falling coconut at the top of a mountain than to be taken hostage in either country.

hey.... im argentino and ive skid a fair bit around the continente...

bariloche isnt as great as it seems... its a pretty uglyplace crowded with students...

Chapelco on the otherhand is smaller but the actual skiing is better...as for freestyle the park is way better and if you are the kinda guy who can be arsed to walk a bit there is some sick back country and some fucking amazing rocks.

Las Lenas is good cos it is high = more snow usually... xpensive though.

Try Caviahue... another place where if u have balls to walk u will not be disappointed...

In Chile try climbing villarica..amazing!

besides horsefucker's opinion, Im not even bothering with my park skis...just takiing the fats. I need to get some skins that are going to fit the mojo...i plan on hitting some sick lines, couldnt be fuct with skiing park...

I'll write those places down and try to get there. Lenas is xpensive, but id like to check out chile...

Skied in valle nevado (chile) on sunday. Snow's pretty good, but hasnt snowed for 2 weeks. Was pretty impressed by the park too, it was definitely as good as any I've been to in Europe and had a good variety of rails and some not bad kickers. Even saw a Chilean guy on mo'ships and reactors. Couldnt bring my pollards over from the UK sadly so had to settle for renting some Rossi Pow Airs but the dude with the Lines said a shop in Santiago sold Armada but I have no fucking idea where it is.

 
being chilean i would reccomend valle nevado and portillo as being the best. Las lenas isn't that great and its also sketch because its further south than most other ski resorts. portillo is sick, they have a deal where you pay 440 a week with a bed, all meals and lift tickets included. definetly reccomended, its what I'm doing next summer.
