ARG vs Pontoon vs Hellbent vs Bent Chetler

Well, what type of skier are you? Do you like the Jibby? look at Hellbents, or the Chetler (awesome skis). Are you a ripper? look at Pontoons, ski heli and backcountry more than lifts? look at the ARG, or Moment Donner Party. I would also suggest looking at the Armada JJ, which is a more versatile version of the ARG. And you should check out the Moment Bibby pro.

I just bought a pair of Volkl Chopsticks. They are pretty sweet, but stiff, and very wide. I would suggest them as well, if your looking for a WIDE and bomber rockered powder ski that wont puss out in chop and hard snow. Plus they are on sale at sierraskis.com for 305 with free shipping. That site also has 189 Hellbents for the same price(they measure to almost 200 cm, and are way to big for most people).

If you want a softer powder ski, look at the Line EP PRO, I have never skied anything better.

Hope that helps, but if you get a chance, demo, or at least look at and touch the skis before you purchase.

THE SKI ur looking for is the Armada JJ my bro just baught the 09 010 modal and he is stoked. I personly havnt ridden them but everyone just raves about it and on powder magizine got most versitile pow ski! freestyle b.c charging insane lines hucking huge drops or just hitting pillows in the trees The JJ does it all and can still be classified as a 1 ski quiver.

My friend (samgillin ^) has JJs and loves them. they r super versatile. I have Hellbents, and I love them as well. They are super soft and fun, and the bases and edges hold up extremely well. I couldnt be happier with them.

it all depends on what you want. arg and pontoon are pure pow so if you only plan on shredding only pow get the arg or pontoon. hellbent and bentchetler are more jib bc skis. much more versatile. you can take em in the park and all mtn and they still rip pow. ive only heard good things about sir francis bacons and ep pros so look at those too. theyre both bc/jib skis. sir francis bacons are the most versatile of ep's line and the ep pros are rockered and super soft.

The JJ and the Chetler are almost the same ski. Made in the same factory with very similiar design and construction. The JJ is a great ski and prob the best ski I've ever been on for every type of conditions..

...however you were asking about a POW ski. Strictly for pow? If so thats the ARG. Its a great ski and kicks ass in deep snow because the tips dont get hung up and floats oh so well. It can still get you to the bottom of a lift if you have to take a cat track or groomer, but requires alittle work. There are other great pow skis out there as well, I'm a huge fan of the ARGs and JJs thouhg.

I can agree with this from what I've skied in the deeeep. The Pontoons are amazing in deep snow whether it be heavy or lighter than air, not the most amazing for trees, but you are hard pressed to find a powder day outside the trees it doesn't excel in. And apart from 85% of this thread I have actually skied what I'm posting about, weird?!

'Toons work great in pow until you try to ride them fakie.

189 bents measure 196 tip to tip. Big skis, but they float in anything. Anything.

JJs are fun, but they feel sort of short.

If you have other skis in your quiver then go for the best Pow ski for you.

I went with the ARG. because I knew i would get plenty of big dumps on them and they can not be beat in the trees and float like no other.

However, if you cant get to the resort the day after the storm hit then maybe look for something a little more versatile like the JJ or Bentchetler.

For freestyle riding in the pow I feel like the ARG is best, it pops like crazy and doing spins off of features is made easy because all the weight is under your foot.
