ARG - New Armada pow ski

its good that they gave a shoutout to Mconkey, i hope he's not pissed. naw, hes probably stoked that other companies are following his lead

dank for sure getting your hands on one sounds sorta hard talked to tyson today he said only 25 pairs produced. sounds tough...

isn't this just a rip off of the DP Skis Lotus 138? Look it up, it looks like Armada just took their design and made the tips square and slapped a new graphic on it.

^Not really. Dimensions are slightly tweaked. But in that regard, isn't the Addict a blatent rip off of the Invader, or the original 1260. It's called a good idea that is being given the attention it deserves.

yea your'e right its just suepr annoying the hype kids are giving the ARG, mainly because theu don't know the history. but whatever a "mainstream" reverse sidcut ski fi fucking sweet...imagine the day when there are liek 50 of them on teh hill at one time? (besides the quaint town of alta UT)

Armada made about 75, but at least 1/3 went to riders or for promo.. Not to many to be had right now.. From what I hear they are doing so well Amrada will have extra stock come mid winter.

unbeliveable how a ski can get soo much talk because it came out a few months after the rest of their line did

We have them at our local shop, there nothng special its just like the pontoon but they look a little fatter maybe

look sick but i dont understand their concept on the inversed carve in the ski, how will this turn on groomer if you want to get out of the pow a little bit

Just took this, shitty pic I know, sorry. Show's ANT-ARG-EHP for comparisons sake. Oh, and the ARG's are light!

i saw a dude riding them at loveland yesterday. 22 inches of powder and ARG? sounds like a wet dream to me.

THere fucking redick lightweight too, weight about the same as the 199 JP which is as light or lighter thna a park ski.

for sure! When I picked up the ARG I was like wtf, is this thing hollow? they are rediculously awesome.

yea but light also means they used alot of foam, which could suck in the long run. also too light and the ski won't plow through everything so well. that was the only real fault with the lotus, that sometimes it deflected off stuff too easily, but i'm sure theyre sick.

Pretty soon Armada will be ripping off the Pontoon. I guess the "core" companies don't need to come up with their own ideas, they just have to take others' ideas and call them their own and people will buy into it.

I would really like to see a cross section of the JP Julien and ARG to see what that core is really made of. You think Armada uses foam in the ARG? It is cap construction which is pretty different for an Armada ski. Anyone know?

i mean if its extraordinarily light it has to be for its size...even the DP Lotus ski that i've been raving about uses foam, however the DP uses tons of carbon fiber in the core (honeycombed i thnk) to counteract the gayness of foam

The ARG's are kinda short from what I remember... They did feel extraordinarily light although I could have been so stoked to see them that the extra adrenaline in my system caused me to lift the ARG with superhuman strength. But yea when all of Armada's skis are sandwhich and they hit it up with a cap construction...what's up? JOSH where are you?

NO! yea--"

Unmatched strength-to-weight ratio, the Limited Edition Ultra-lite 310kg/m3 wood is

used to reduce weight in our widest skis that are naturally heavier due to their

increased dimensions. Light, yet responsive, this core helps make our oversized

skis easy to maneuver."

So what does that mean? Basically the core is made out of Balsa wood or cork or some shit A.K.A natural FOAM?

haha my goats are STIFF compared to my jps! ^ but yea I don't discriminate i like soft or stiff depending on the mood. With the ARG it seems like the cap construction stiffened up the ski substantially from what I can remember ( as opposed to the JP).

Yea what are they Keegan like 175s maybe? Don't understand the rationale behind a pure powder ski that is less than around 185-190 in length.

Just so you know, the ANT has the same lightweight core as the JP vs Julien, as does the ARG. The ARG is also cap to further reduce the weight. Its flex is supposedly similar to the ANT, so not exactly soft, but the ANT itself isn't the be all and end all of stiffness. Regardless, its a specific ski designed for a specifc purpose and it does that well.

BTW, when Salomon released the pocket rocket and sold gazillions did you go bash the rest of the industry for copying it? No. They just produced their versions of a good idea, its bound to happen. McConkey should be recognized for starting this idea, but it won't be long before most if not all companies have some sort of unconventional sidecut or reverse camber/rocker ski.
