Are your parents gapers?

my dad skis in jeans a hat and a windbreaker, on around 195 cm skis from the 70's. gaper indeed.

Both my parents are good skiers. my dad more so, he does touring and BC and shreds groomers hard. my mom is more cautious but can still keep up. both rock their descente/columbia outerwear so like middle aged steeze.

my mom has never skiied and my dad has never park skied but shreds off piste and moguls and everything else.

this. my parents are both really solid skiers, all that they just dont do park. although i have seen my mom pull out a couple spreadeagels and daffies and 80s tricks

my dad has s7s and some gnarly yellow pants and a mammut jacket. does touring and bc shit. my mom likes skiing but prefers drinking wine and getting massages.

my mom is a huge gaper

my dad on the other hand was just taught, by yours truly, how to do a switch up on a box.

My parents rip. My mom won the Triple Crown (the culmination of 3 comps at Mad River Glen) in the women's category. And this is my pops back in the day:

Mommy skis basically everyday on her Pandora's

Dad blew out his knee, but he usually rocks 189 Seths or a pair of Bacon's.

I think I'm in the clear. They're the people who got me into skiing.

I will admit that my parents are sort of gaper-ish. But my dad used to rip in his day. My mom didn't really get into it until she met my dad. I was born and raised on skis thanks to them. I probably wouldn't be so involved and in love with the sport without them raising me how to ski.

Not really.
My dad rocks JJ's, has been shredding Retallack for 12+ years. Madre rocks twin tips, and I once said "t-hall" and immediately knew who I was referring to.

my parents are skiing cross-country! fortunately they are pretty good at it and don't look like gapers at all haha

my dad does tip rolls on his armarda Arv's. he skis pow, and knows who alot of the pro skiers are.

my mom does not ski twin tips right know, but im buyin her k2's for her birthday. so i would say she is a little bit of a gaper.

My pa can slay groomers and trees. I sometimes see him nollie over rollers and he throws the occasional spread eagle or cosak. He says Seth Morrison and Shane are the coolest cats to have ever lived and I agree.

RADICAL

My dad wears tightpants, and absolutely kill it on tele skis.... so definitely not a gaper

My dad is a beast. My mom hates snow, skied once and never again. But anyways, My dad rocks some nice all mountain heads, and is buying some wide twin tips next year, he straight airs tons of jump at my local mountain, so 20-30 feet maybe a little more. He has the smith brim helmet and smith i/o's. I'm not embarrassed to ski with him one bit. Plus, he is CRAZY in pow...

my parents can ski and my dad's pretty good i think

it was only once like 3 years ago when i tried snowboarding

but my mom probably is

both are too afraid to ski now because they're crazy about running

I should also add that he currently wears a racer looking jacket, but wants to replace it with something "brighter and longer"

The steeze is strong in this one.

Don't really see the point in this thread, no offense to you're mom, but i don't see the significance of knowing two professional skiers.
To answer the question though, my dad isn't, but can't really shred in the park and ain't much of a skiier in the backcountyry. My mom is....

Ya my parents are gapers. I don't go into the park with them though just cause for some reason I feel like i can't do anything with them watching, anyone else feel like that? Since my dads really never seen me do any park skiing he believes i can't do it and constantly claims i can't do it because "you have to be a gymnast to freestyle ski". hahaha

ahah same. dad skied hard in whistler and jackson and now is settled down with ma fam jam.

momma, well she learned to ski 3 or 4 years ago and yea.. not the greatest

kinda dont where funny stuff and my dad still skis a bit of backcountry stuff but they think park is dumb and stuff

I just tried to give my dad some pretty decent twin tips..he said no he wants to keep his straight skis from the 70's..He kills at at skiing but wont try anything new.

My mom used to ski pretty seriously back in the day, my dad was more casual. Neither of them ski much today but we went out to aspen a few years back and then deer valley the next year and they both had a great time. They're by no means experts, but they know their way around a mountain for sure.

my dad used to fuckin rip. hes got pics posted up all over the house of him skiing/kayaking back when he was in college, him and his buddies were throwin flips and shit way back. He ski bummed a couple winters in Jackson as well. im jealous of his post-college life

Some funny posts in this one.

Neither of my parents have even tried skiing. Not their thing.

I however am looking forward to my kid (if/when i have one) finding a thread like this one when he/she gets a NS account and posting that;

"My pops rocks it everywhere on the mountain! He taught me everything I know, Grabs and everything, definitely not a gaper"

Assuming I wont still be a gaper by then!! Ha.

im surrounded by good skiers, its kinda the outdoors lifestyle of santa fe. my friends dad litlerally can coach us through any new trick, and is probably the best skier i have ever skied with so hes pretty much our shred buddy all year. all of my moms fam is or has been ski patrol and grew up skiing squaw, and my rents are adiquate but nothing special. my dad is from kansas so that doesnt help his case but was a snowboard bum in denver for a few years

My mom was a provincial level racer growing up and is a pretty damn good techincally perfect skier. Doesnt rip to aggresively anymore but I have seen her shred the trees before. My dad is a super athletic dude with no formal training and skis hard and fast. Certainly not a gaper though.

My mom is scared of the moderat runs... (one level above the easy runs hahah) also she doesnt ride twins..

My mom rocks Pandoras every day, and knows how to use them.

My dad has been out for the past seasons from a knee injury, along with work. But he rocks Bacons every day too, and knows how to use them.

They taught me the basics of skiing, and my dad taught me the basics of big mountain.

I think they did a pretty good job.

I love skiing with my parents. Especially on a powder day. My mom is so happy when I do runs with her all day in powder.

That's one of the best feelings I get, knowing that I can ski with my parents, and they're just as happy as I am when we ski.

My dad has skied longer than anyone on this website and used to heli ski and such, so no, hes not a gaper. As for my mom, she dresses a bit gaperly but has skied for quite a while skis pretty well just a bit more conservatively than me or my dad.

thisssss

pointless thread is pointless.

i dont know about you, OP, but i dont want to see my mom wearing tall tees and 5xl jiberish. Not even any saga, orage, or causwell. I dont know about everyone else but usually older people tend to ruin things that we (younger folks) enjoy. That being said, im glad she is a "gaper".
