To address some issues:
Tex - you get angry at the implication that you are, in your words "just some dumb hick named Tex," and "gun carrying, chain people to the electric chair killing far right republican" when (Jonesy) only said that it was not surprising that a person named Tex would agree with the so called "Cowboy Mentality." In some ways this is accurate - You were born and raised in Texas, then you moved to Utah, another Republican hot spot. You also use the word "hombre." These facts alone point towards the cowboy mentality. Combine these statements with what you have actually said, and it is very believable that you aren't unhappy about the past 8 years. While you have the right to feel this way, you must also respect those of who feel the US could have made better decisions, both internationally and domestically.
You do raise some legitimate points. John McCain's death in office is very unlikely and should not be a reason for voting for Obama. Also, i agree with you that the debate not only on this site, but in this country should be focused much more on the issues, not the meaningless gossip about candidates.
Some of your comments, however, are completely ridiculous. 60% taxes on anyone, or anything under the Obama administration is not going to happen (that is also not Communism, as you claim. Please come to terms with the 21st century, the Red Scare is over). You say Obama will not be able to pay for the 95% of people he has promised to give tax cuts to. This is not true, Obama has promised not to raise taxes for 95% of Americans. This very different from what you have claimed. I must also point out that Bush has provided tax breaks to millions using money the country didn't have, in a failed attempt to stimulate the economy. But you're right, that is "fucking bullshit."
To address your statements on the skiing industry - Yes, it is possible that Obama will end tax breaks for large ski companies. To be honest I'm not sure how many tax breaks ski companies actually get but for the sake of argument, let's assume you are correct in the statement that prices will rise. This year the Epic Pass is 500 bucks, thats a lot, but consider what you get, unlimited skiing at some of the best mountains in North America. I realize many mountains charge more for less, but i think we would all gladly pay more for the guarantee that 25 years from now we can still ski on the mountains we love. My point is this, Obama is far more committed to the environment than McCain, and while Obama is far from perfect, we can still move in the right direction. Many Republicans are advocating more drilling, which would not only do relatively little to ease gas prices, but such a policy would do nothing to slow carbon emissions. For decades the United States has funded dictators and brutal regimes through oil consumption. Thus oil is not only bad for the environment, it is also bad for human rights around the globe. This is the biggest reason I support Obama, he realizes that it is time to embrace the technologies of the future and support an environmentally clean future. This will not only ensure skiing for decades, but in the long run it will make us safer and more respected and influential abroad.
As for health care - Obama wants to make health care more affordable by tweaking our existing system, not Socializing it as you suggest. I am sure you are aware that Obama has a web site where he explains this, so why have you not at least glanced at it? While I don't agree with everything that Obama proposes, I do think that everyone should have access to some level of basic health care.
To IluvBread - You have to understand that although many people base their decisions on who to vote for on rumors and shallow ideas, there are far more people voting based on issues that matter to them. I could care less or good Obama of McCain looks, their environmental and international policies are what really matter to me. Just because you don't agree with me on who is the better candidate doen't give you the right to call me a shallow idiot.
For those who say "Palin understands my life because she is living it" - I know there aren't any soccer moms here but nonetheless I must ask, how does that make her qualified to be vice president? I have this thing where I like our countries leaders to be smarter than me. I don't feel that Palin has a deep understanding of international relations, economic theory, environmental issues, or much of anything else needed to lead our country.
Holy shit that was long. I apologize if any of that came across as hostile, I merely wanted to make some statements about how I feel about what has been said. To close I'm going to say i agree with yommytacoe - Obama is not the greatest man on earth, but i believe he is the better man for the job. I have the uppermost respect for McCain, he has served his country like few others, but I simply don't agree with many of hes governing policies. The botom line is, Obama is the man to lead our nation.
