Are you to Pussy to do a Backflip on a tramp?

About two years ago i flopped a backflip off a pretty sizable cliff and i have been too scared to do another one since then. This afternoon i discovered some techniques to fix this problem. Call me a pussy, but it worked.
First i did what all the How-to movies say is to jump, land on your back, then bounce back on your feet. Thats the simple step, so bare with me for the other ones.
Next go over to a swing set and do a bunch of backflips by holding onto the ropes or chains and throw your feet over your head to do the backflip. You can pull on your arms to get it around, because you are just practicing the motion.
Ok now its time to take it to the tramp, for this you will need a pretty thick rope and a tramp with a net. Tie the rope to the top of opposite poles. Like in the picture, make them tight for the first few tries, they should loosen with use. Use them like the swing, but introduce the bounce, if you bail on your rotation you can catch yourself, or if you cant quite get it around, you can use the ropes to pull it around. Practice spotting with your head. As you get more and more confident with the tight ropes, then make them looser to the point where they wont really give you anymore support.
Tight ropes, rigged from opposite poles: Notice the spacing so you dont get your feet caught:

Hear are the ropes loose:

Once you feel conformable with the loose ropes, then grip the rope like you are doing the a-ok sign (see below) by putting the ropes in between your pinter and thumb.. If you can do this, then you arent using the ropes anymore.

Once you do this your are ready to start letting go. You can start by letting go earlier and earlier before your flip, to the point where you dont ever touch the ropes anymore. Do as many of these as possible. Then take the ropes off and see if you can do it. I have previously done backflips, so i got them in a few tries, once you get over the fear, do as many as you can, like 100 of them, your abs will burn, but you dont want to get scared the next time you try them.
Good luck! Stay safe and i am not responsible!
Please dont hate, i am just trying to help fellow NSers who are having trouble.

cool ideas. a kid i know broke his arm very bad doing a backflip off a swing. Bone was sticking out and all.

i think everyone here can do a backflip alreadyand if you cant then just get a friend who knows how to come over an give you some tips

my friend called me a pussy so i tried one haha. easiest way to learn is to man up. as long as you commit your fine

I hated trying to learn the backflip, i could do fronts, rodeo threes, but i couldn't do the backflip and the one way i learned was going for it i tried it once earlier and kinda landed on my head but a couple years later i commited and landed first time.

Its rough to get over that weird feeling at first but once you get it its easier than front flips. My brother, my friend and I all taught eachother by helping flip eachother over backwards until we could do it with out them flipping you then they are just there to spot you.

go watch youtube, loads of people landing on their heads and slowmoing their necks bending in weird ways. Tip: dont watch youtube before you try one.

at first I thought you were going over the rope, and I thought, "yeah that's cool, till you get stuck on the rope and lend on your face", but then I realized there were 2 ropes and you flip through the middle. sounds like a good way to get over fears. I learned the stupid way, without the trampoline just doing backies in my lawn - not the smartest idea, but I'm super comfortable with backies anywhere now (although I've only done a few on skis - so not as comfy there) +K for your good idea.

I would disagree. I've seen some REAL gnar injuries on tramps.
I think this thread is way legit.

play with a bungee cord over my tramp and do tricks over it but the rope sounds like a way to hang yourself. Its cool it worked for you though. I just learned by falling on my back and turning it.

I've hobbling around in a gigantic leg brace for 8 weeks because of a trampoline. And I even landed on my feet.

its also cool cuz when the ropes are tight you can do the most laid out backflips. like feet to the back of the head laid out. So fun! Didnt try front flips tho? Dont think it would work for doubles, your hands would get wrapped up.
If someone else tries this, tell me how it goes!

i cant jump on trampolines without getting hurt. im just retarded when it comes to landing on something that springs me back into the air. last time i jumped on one i sprained my ankle.

I was on the trampoline with my dad when I was young and watched him break his neck putting him in a wheelchair for 3 months.

that being said, I can not do backflips, i just cant.

i am a pussy

back flips are easy on skis

and double backflip are easy on tramp

man up start with back drops and if you can practice into a foam pit or a mat or somehting

you arent swinging on the swing, you are using it to pull yourself up to feel the rotation, no swing movement.

Personally, I bought my first tramp this summer. Before that, I had tramped only occasionally, ramped, dove, and hucked stuff off pow jumps.

Basically, how I sacked up for a backflip:

Get lincolns perfectly. This should be fairly easy.

Go for some more backish looking lincolns (flatspins). This can be fairly easily attained by reaching your leading arm on lincolns to the back of your leg or grabbing japan. Keep going increasingly more back with your flats until, its a backflip!

But that's my method. Just remember that whatever you're doing, make sure to commit. I like my method because it builds confidence so when you're finally going for the back, it feels pretty natural.

or you could just do it.

it's a tramp it's not guna hurt that bad.

cool idea though, i'm glad you overcame your fear!

hahahaha. i learned to backflip on my bed when i was 7. but last year i did a backflip cliffjumping and hit my head on a rock going down. i was scared as shit to do them for like a week then just said what the fuck. u gotta just commit

lol i tried a backflip on a tramp when i was aout 10 and landed on my neck. i am 17 today and have yet to try another backflip either in the water or on a tramp. i can do front flips, but i cant do a backflip at all. there is just something inside me that does not want me to do one, and will not let me summon up the ablls to do so.

the way i learned to back flip was on a diving board. i didnt just stand there backwards and do it, cause i was afraid. i walked up and jumped like a normal dive, but when i jumped i kinda did a 180ish thing and it threw me right into a backflip when i jumped. worked for me

I can do backflips off of stuff standing backwards but I cannot for the life of me doing a backflip on a tramp without flying all the way back off the tramp. Can anyone give me tips on how to just jump straight up and backflip without flying backwards?
