Are you preparing?

you make me puke.

peak oil has already happened. Most of you are forgetting that oil plays a part in EVERY part of your life. Think of how many things are made or are packaged in plastic. Think of everything around you that uses some type of fossil fuel to function.

Those of you that speak of fuel cells, hydrogen, ethanol. Go check out the facts...for the most part all of those "solutions" require just as much if not more fossil fuels to be produced/refined than burning a litre/gallon of dead dinos.

We're much more fucked that anyone lets on. Yeah, all the oil reserves like the AB oil sands and the alaska wells are only now a possibility because the barrel price is so high. Just because it's there doesnt mean its going to be suddenly cheaper.

Those of you who can...arm yourselves. Get yourself a safe haven and a trusted group of people. I promise that before the end of our generation there will be major changes that are going to require us defending ourselves like "insurgents" and "terrorists". Specfically i am speaking to the canucks.

Shawn...your ewok city better be ready by the time of the reckoning.

No, 2-3 percent of it is generated by oil. There was a speaker here on campus this week for the conference on world affairs...he talked for a long ass time about how so little of the power that is generated is produced by oil. Apparently it is a very common misconception. Coal produces most of the power.

^ first off, the oil problem is everywhere. wherever you are sitting right now, you look 360 degrees, 90-95% of the stuff you see is made from oil, uses oil based production, was transported to you via an oil dependant trucking and shipping system, and the plant that made it was run by electricity obtained from oil.

The guy was only saying that there are not really and more Oil power plants, because its way too expensive. everytrhing surrounding everything uses oil.

The coal for the power plant is mined using an oil driven operation. the machines, etc.

Hahaha. There is no preparing to do. Think about this: Man didnt use oil for how long? Now we are depended on oil like it is a drug, and without oil we will all die. FUCK THAT. FUCK THE OIL. I dont need oil to do shit for me.

there is nothing to fucking prepare for. This is alot of bullshit. I dont care about statistics, or what scientists say, or anyone. because that is all Babylon's shit right there. Its all inna Babylon... its a shame people need to "prepare" for something we created. Seriosuly. it is just oil. They get oil from corn, from soybeans, from anything. Cannabis seeds even.

PREPARE PEOPLE! PREPARE FOR WHAT???

Yes oil is everywhere, I fully understand that but I was just politely pointing out that he had a misconception about power production.

And coal is mined with electric equipment because carbon monoxide from a gas or petrolium based engine would settle and kill whoever is in a mine. Of course strip mining is a diffenet story and then the coal is loaded on to diesel electric trains. We are fucked if we run out of oil...I get the point.

prepare for your neighbours attack

i've said it before, and ill say it again, its going to come down to 'kill your neighbour before he kills you'

thats what we're looking at, and thats what were preparing for.

well, with no industry polluting the water, maybe that problem will be solved on its own

200$ a tank?

really?

well... what kind of work do you do, hopefully nothing to do with oil or industry.

anyone forgetting how fucked we're going to be when the fresh water supply goes downhill? dubya gonna be poundin on ma door

what the hell are you talking about? it won't be solved on its own. think out side your north american bubble and think of the rest of the world.

now think that canada owns 25% of the worlds freshwater, that is the most for any country.

well ive already planned to go buy some property out in the county and put up windmill's, solar cells, and such.

When things get desperate, so do people. you become in direct competition with the people around you. you might now kill your neighbour, but you might steal some gas from his garage, and vice versa.

Its the big picture of competition in a new form.

as for the water problem, why is it a problem first of all, what aspect of our troubled water are you referring to?

Because the rest of the world has water problems for different reasons, ie, overpopulation, lax or no garbage disposal laws, natural obstacles (trying to live in a desert), industry pollution, etc.

i was thinking of the states actually, and if BIg Business had to suspend operation, and all of a sudden the water sources in america started to get cleaner.

thats what i meant.

kevo,

we're cool.

i would just live on my sailboat, you get infinity miles to the gallon, and theres plenty of fish to eat

*might noT kill your...

its the idea of that competition i was alluding to, it could translate into racing down the grocery store aisle to grab the last can of mushroom soup.
