if you guys are mad, you really shouldnt be. snowboarders arent allowed at Alta, Deer Valley, Mad River Glen, and Taos. now you know what it kinda feels like...

I could care less about HCSC, as I think could most people on NS. Let them do their shit, we can still ski at many other places on Hood.

and besides, as I once heard: there is no reason any of us couldn't go there and snowboard. You wouldn't go to a downhill biking summer camp and mountain board, or a hiking camp and BASE jump, etc...

They do what they want to do with it.

in fairness to the snowboarding not allowed thing. what snowboarder would want to shred alta. you need to traverse to most of the good shit, and lets be honest, traversing on a snowboard aint fun.

deer valley. who gives a fuck, doesnt that resort also limit the number of people on the mountain per day? its a rich dude groomer fest, who cares.

and mad river glenn. its the east coast, so who cares.

true.
I don't think people are mad they can't go there. People are mad at the stupid comments from pro snowboarders they have in their advertising.

HCSC = High Cascade SNOWBOARD Camp.
I have never and will never have any desire to go there, whether it be on skis or a snowboard. Windell's took the crown as best hood camp anyway, in my book.

Yup, the "madness" lies in their divisive advertising, basically rehashing '90's style skier hate in hopes of reviving their snowboard only cool factor...basically a low brow swipe at Windell's which is killing it with skier and snowboarder attendance.

High Cascade SNOWBOARD CAMP!!! Who the fuck cares? they have never let skiers in because its a snowboard camp. They buy the lane they can do what they want with it. are you pissed that the ski race camps wont let you jib their gates?

alta caps ticket sales as well...not that it helps, shit gets tracked out by about noon

HEY! dont you know that Newschoolers is an ONLY skiing website!
but seriously, Skiers have momentum, but i think its the way HCSC marketed the fact that they are only snowboarder to appear cooler, or better, than other snowboard camps that makes me mad. i thought both industrys were past this

A lot of east coast resorts are pretty sick, but you're right on that one. I would go to almost any other resort on the east to snowboard than MRG. It's hardly groomed, a lot of natural moguls, and the trees are a bit too tight for comfort on a board.

it really doesn't matter when all the other camps on timberline besides hcsc allow skiing. plus windells is the sickest so who really cares?

Well actually... we had a boarder sign up last year for camp. at first we explained to him that we didn't have any snowboard coaches, and suggested he check out COC, but he still wanted to come (believe it or not he was stoked on the fact that we had moguls). We were all looking forward to it, but at the last minute he had to cancel due to a family emergency.
Long story short - We put a lot of priority on our coaching, and we don't have any snowboard coaches, so because of that we don't market to snowboarders. However if a snowboarder wanted to come to our camp they would be welcome. Share the love.

not at all. id be mad at them if they all of a sudden started yelling at me from outside that i cant come

i've never been to alta, but i think the 'traverse' arguement is bs. every mtn in the west requires traverses to either get to the goods or get back to the chair. traverses, hiking, and powder stashes go hand and hand.

ps. are three threads on this topic really nessecary?

this is the exact attitude the snowboard community should have. its ridiculous. i ride with mostly boarders and there dope as fuck. but the majority of them im sure are just haters towards skiing.

So I checked out their website, and ill revise my original figure to 1/3 of the features instead of half. There's only so many pole jams I can deal with though

i dont think anyone cares about not being able to ski there. i just care about the stupid ad that made it sound like there is still a battle between skiers and boarders. its like we stepped back 20 years ago

what eheath said... just because NS just discovered this doesnt make it new. high cascade has been around for a long ass time.. if you guys want to get rid of this shit then just stop talking about it. you are all just feeding the fire.

idk why im even posting in here. im done with this shit now

Whatever, its a snowboard camp. A lot of racing camps don't let snowboarders in. Its lame they flaunt it like they do, but whatever. Skiing is still fun regardless.

Ski racing and snowboard racing are COMPLETELY different.

But in I don't care that they don't allow skiers, there are tons of other places to go.
