Are there any tricks that snowboarders can do the skiers can’t’?

I was thinking about this the other day and it feels like almost everything you can do on a board with my limited knowledge of snowboarding seems possible on skis and it can be achieved with more variations

Snowboarders have an advantage in the street because they can 5050 skate stopped rails and hit other spots that wouldn’t be fathomable on skis, but in the park I think skiers have an advantage with their ability to pretzel and swap easier

their ollie power and control over the board for presses makes us really envious especially when it comes to urban

i think the tradeoff is practicality of use on the mountain. with our feet separate and poles and the ability to skate we have a huge advantage over snowboarders on anything flat or uphill. plus we can go faster more easily, like if your snowboarder buddy beats you down the mountain or has an easier time on a gnarly inrun, that dude is just more skilled/experienced than you, our equipment is definitely a little more suited for that kind of thing

are there any tricks that snowboarders have done that skiers simply can't? i mean, they're way ahead of us in legit presses and press variations. i can't think of any jump tricks that they've done that we haven't but there might be a few. i think they generally are ahead of us there, like snowboarders did a quad before skiers (the newschool kind at least; skiers were doing trips and quads before snowboarding existed), stuff like that

I’ve seen boarders 50/50 but they are on their edge. I couldn’t imagine that on skis the same way boarders do it

Bet with some decent rocker you could probably do it might not be pretty first couple try’s though

I bet with a short pair of on3ps and a month to practice, I could do most of that. Looks fun actually I might think twice about getting the longer 177s

They can do methods which makes me very sad bc they look so good. I've tried to do some skiing equivalent but my knees just don't bend like that.

if you do it on short skis it won't look cool though, defeating the purpose

It's more like a snowboard tho, especially if you keep them parallel well. Plus 171s are still like my height

Can you beef curtain on skis? I suppose you could. Kudos to first member to get a pic of them doing this, but in a ski-friendly way.

It's just a beef curtain that looks way worse. Also, almost all rotations look cooler on a snowboard. Change my mind.

Not exclusive to boarders, but they do it a bit better than skiers sometimes!

I have a video where the guy licks up the snow as he scorpions .

Never seen a skier do it that good!

cripplers unless someone has figured out some weird way to do it on skis

edit: forgot the trusty mctwist

I think the equivalent would be a stinkbug

longer is better with those suckers, trust me... on the magnus 90s at 178 and there's literally 80cm total of rocker on those bad boys. Combined with the factory detune underfoot you're getting about

Other way round to OP but can’t say I’ve seen many snowboarders buttering off jumps into dubs / big spins as skiers can do

Also skinny cannon rails...it’s not that snowboarders can do them and skiers can’t, it’s more the sky high stakes if it goes wrong on skis

snowboarders got the quads, there were like 3 at the x games this year, skiers have the 1980s and large rotation doubles. I think skiers have more rail tricks but snowboarders have more variety without doing massive spins on and off (presses, taps etc)
