Are the Aussies dreaming of a warm christmas just like the ones they used to know?

First day of summer and it's bluebird and 27 degrees (about 80deg farenheit for you US folk)..

I have to say i'd prefer snow.

Well, are they? Do the stores advertise shorts and t-shirts as xmas gifts? And is xmas just part of summer vacation?

yeah. our (NZ) school year finishes at the beginning of summer so during xmas/summer holidays everybody is waiting for their exam results and so forth and xmas/new years are just part of the summer holidays.

im bailing over to the snow but its pretty hot here all year round evewn in the winter its not that bad so its good to get away

no we still have the white xmas song though, hahaha but yea 2day was effing hot, cant wait to get outta hear and back to the snow :)

In NZ, Mount Ruapehu rekons it will open its lifts for skiing for chrismass and new years.... Have no idea what the quality of the snow would be like thou and there is aways snowplanet (indoor ski field) for those who are real desperate in the summers...

And Yeah werv got santas who have boardshorts and surfboards instead of coats and raindeer...

Haha yeah it's the first day of summer here and it's cold. Hanging out for going to the snow. But we get our big 2month holidays now over christmas, new year! and the surfs getting better. It snowed Christmas last year though in Aus.

No no, I think you guys have it wrong. The seasons are the same but the months are different in Australia. So it's still winter down there but it's June right now. That's why the Aussies call it "Christmas in July".
