Are ski sleeves worth it?

I'm going on a ski trip in a week and the mode of transportation is a coach bus. Just wondering if it's necessary or worth it to put my skis into a bag/sleeve for the travel. Or is it fine to just throw my skis into the storage compartment but naked?

They are skis, you ski on them, I don't imagine they are going to face worse abuse boot of a bus.

just pick up an old bag at a thrift shop or salvation army, you can probably get one for 5 dollars with free gaper day skis included

Doesn't hurt, there is always the chance of shit damaging your topsheets/bases if you toss them in without any protection

The only thing a bag will protect your skis from is scratches.

The second time i flew with skis in a padded bag i opened the bag up in my hotel and the heel piece on one of the skis had ripped out...so the moral of the story is youre never safe.

The main advantage is that in a bag or tote they will stay together, and be a little easier to lug around.

Everyone else will bring bags, so just put your skis on the top and everyone else's bag becomes your bag

You could at least use ski straps to keep them together and the bases protected.

yea I usually use old shoe laces, does the same job and a million times cheaper!
