Are Ski poles designed to snap to save your life?

I had always been told that Aluminium Poles were designed to snap under a certain weight to prevent yourself from being impaled by them in a serious crash, is this true? Is this why wooden poles are no longer really in existence besides a few companies? I'm posting this thread because of a photo I came across advertising Bamboo poles which are stronger and less susceptible to snapping, But couldn't this be advertising that they are more dangerous to ski with even if the company was unaware. I could be completely wrong on this whole subject so go easy if I made a mistake.

Well, technically if you are going to get impaled they will be really difficult to snap longitudinally. So I can conclude that the reason they snap so easily is because 98% of skiers dont ski too hard, and therefore want something that is light>durable.

I have fatcans and they are super solid, hard to bend n shit. Check em out

No they break to ruin your day and send you into a tearful downward spiral as you try to desperately find those vintage of scott pro poles again.

one time when I was about 14 I undershot a 3 on an xl jump, but I was using proper length poles that I wasn't used to and when I landed my pole hit the ground then my jaw hit the pole and I broke that motherfucker in half with my face. when I saw what had happened I was very surprised to be completely fine
