This sickens me, if you're not even sexually attracted to a child how do you do that to them?
Children trust parents/relatives, teachers, coaches, clergy, etc. Some adults use that to their advantage because they can't with other adults or who knows why.
Also, often in these cases, the adult perpetrator was abused themselves as children and haven't dealt with those issues and/or sexual/physical/emotionally abusing a child is what was exemplified to them by their own of parents and is just normalized behaviour. Combine a childhood filled with sexual/physical/emotional abuse with substance abuse issues as an adult and that person is a ticking time bomb for something bad to happen.
It's almost always multi-generational and almost always tragedy built on top of more tragedy. Sickening, but often tragic for both the children and the adults involved.
