Are "safe" pedophiles acceptable?

I'm not trying to be rude, but I'm curious. How and why does someone prey on children out of "convenience." I guess I'm asking what it means, are they bored? Is it like a straight person experimenting with someone of the same sex?

This sickens me, if you're not even sexually attracted to a child how do you do that to them?

Children trust parents/relatives, teachers, coaches, clergy, etc. Some adults use that to their advantage because they can't with other adults or who knows why.

Also, often in these cases, the adult perpetrator was abused themselves as children and haven't dealt with those issues and/or sexual/physical/emotionally abusing a child is what was exemplified to them by their own of parents and is just normalized behaviour. Combine a childhood filled with sexual/physical/emotional abuse with substance abuse issues as an adult and that person is a ticking time bomb for something bad to happen.

It's almost always multi-generational and almost always tragedy built on top of more tragedy. Sickening, but often tragic for both the children and the adults involved.

Gay marriage is between consenting adults. That is quite a bit different than forcing a child into sexual acts

It is still a terrible comparison. Age of consent is the same gay or straight. Therefore from a legal standpoint and social it is wrong.

Where do we draw the line then. It was initially at gay marriage but that line was erased. Not saying it's a bad thing but could be used as a slippery slope for pedophilia

I love this argument. We allowed two consenting adult males to marry each other? What'll be next? Allowing an adult to fuck a child who isn't old enough to be 100% aware of what is happening?
