Are my boots too loose?

when i lean forward to butter my heels come up a little and almost feels like my feet are going to come out but i know theyre not. could that be what is making my shins hurt every time i ski?

ok heres the deal though. i got them fitted at a ski shop so they are probably not too big. and when i pull hte little buckle things down or whatever they are it is really tough and i cant go to the next one

buckle your boots tighter than what you usualy when u put them away after skiing and it will make it easyer to buckle

how long have you had the boots? If you've used them for more than a year some boots have a cheap sole in them and you have to replace it. It makes a huge difference to have a new sole. I just had the same exact prob. Soles can range from 30-100 bucks and you could possibly ask about a heel riser if need be. Hope that helps. the buckling when not using them trick works very well too.

pre-heat your boots before you go out next time. they'll be easier to buckle tighter and the next time you wear them they should be consistenly easier to buckle down.

yea try buckling them up nice and tight when youre not skiing, also you can usually change the setting of the buckles so they can be tighter or looser

definately too big. people always think a boot is just right when they first slip it on, BUT, your heel isn't all the way back in the heel pocket until you have it fully buckled up.

here's my advice. ah fuck my advice, i'm really fuckin wasted and i'm going to pass out.

get smaller boots.

all ski boots should be smaller then your shoes...people wear their shoes bigger then they need cuz its comfy that way

and even if your boot is fitted properly you will still be able to lift your heel if you try, anyone can lift their heel in a ski boot if they try hard enough. but i agree with whoever said look into gettin a new insole, and buckle them a lil more after a few runs, but not too tight your u will cut off blood flow

Go to a good bootfitter and ask them to shell size you to see if it is actually too big. You could squeeze into a boot two sizes too small and still be able to force your heel to lift - your foot has over 25 bones in it so it has a lot of articulation. If it is too big, you can get it fitted to reduce the volume by padding the liner or by adding material to the bootboard to raise the whole foot.

in the lodge i usually buckle my boots very tight and then make the power strap very tight then loosen the buckles.

if that doesn't work take out the liner, put ur foot in the very front of ur boot and see how many fingers can fit between the back of ur leg and the boot.(more than 2 is oo much)

making boots impossibly tight isn't the answer, I have buckled my boots the same for the past 5 years, I can get them a lot tighter but its pointless, I dont get shinbang and my foot doesnt move much/at all

to the person that suggested a heel lift... a heel lift works by pulling your toes away from the front and getting your heel deeper in the cup of the boot making a smaller boot fit bigger by

also when u say you got "fitted", there are a ton of different ways to fit people... what is comfy and what is for the normal skier is not what is for us... comfort will come after they break in

i ahd the same prob the last 2 years

casue i like bigger boots

when i try to butter my heel lifts

NEW lesson: dont get too big boots

have you considered changing brands? yes your boots are probably too big but also different boots run wide, narrow, small, large, etc.
