are look pivots really that hype? i have been running marker on all my skis for my whole life is just got paid and am wondering if pivots are really that good i have been trolled by my homies before for running my on3ps without pivots i am thinking of buying some but DAMN why is they 400 bones are they worth it do i really need 15 din dose anyone actually run the din up to max lmk

if you have an evo store near you I got brand new pivot 15s for 255 cuz I price matched with them

I think if ur legitimately skiing super hard with heavy spins/impacts then yes. But otherwise anything works. I’m 6’4 and ski kinda hard and never had issues with my attacks, I did although switch to pivots cuz my comp kid friends convinced me to. If u wanna spend extra money then do it there’s no right or wrong.

I forgot but it has to be an American brand, and same exact brake size and color for it to be viable.

Pivots aren’t worth it at all. Attack 14’s are half the price and will give you the exact same performance (technically it’ll be better performance since the attack has a lower stack height). You lose a bit of durability since the pivot is all metal but that also makes them a lot heavier. Pivots are a 50 year old design and people only buy them based on their reputation which they have far outlived. Tyrolia and other manufacturers are coming out with innovative designs and actually invest in R&D

The height of the binding is a preference. Higher means more leverage edge to edge, Lower means better snow feel. I have both and definitely notice a difference. I'm not sure I'd say one was better than another.

Butthurt because you spent your entire monthly allowance on overpriced pivots? It’s ok sport, only 14 more days until you get your next allowance. You’ll be fine.

Word, it would be a game changer if they were price matching sites like bob leisure

They’re good in the bumps since they have higher elasticity in most cases in both toe and heel compared to other bindings so they don’t pre release. They are also bullet proof. Best next option is sth2 which can be found for cheap if you’re budgeting.

pivot toe elasticity: ~40mm

attacks: ~30mm

Marker: ~30mm

sth2: ~52mm

pivot heel elasticity: ~28mm

attacks: ~16mm

Marker: ~16mm

sth2: ~16mm

If you have to wait until you get paid to be able to afford Pivots, probably not the best financial decision, sport.

Dude you can get last years pivots for around 240 Cad it isn’t that overpriced.

Just buy some new pivot brakes/base plates and seek out some old rossi 9s/9x, gs, slalom skis. Most have narrow brakes on them but can be found for cheap. Under $100

Durability is a big one imo, plastic bindings don't tend to age as well.

I find the metal toes on the pivot 15s feel super lush on snow, very damp and solid feel compared to plastic bindings.

Closest runner up is a metal STH16, but they don't quite let the ski flex the same imo. It's all subtle but really adds up to making your skis feel Gucci.

Pivots are expensive comparatively, for a marginal upgrade, but that's like everything in life, towards the upper tiers of anything you get diminishing returns for your dollar. Doesn't stop me running them on my current 3 skis though and staying a die hard pivot fan.

This is a solid point, I switched over to marker when they where still the heavy duty griffin’s I think, made with metal pieces before they changed to hard plastic

Y’all are definitely not good enough at skiing to be worrying about durability ? ?

Just save yourself the money and get attacks lol. Half of the Us Olympic ski team isn’t using pivots because they’re overrated

This is such an accurate description it’s that pivot feel

Pro skiers get new gear every season so they can run stuff with the shittiest durability. It only has to last a couple months

Because they run what sponsors give them.

I hate myself for somewhat agreeing with the first half of the statement, but for the majority of us, having different bindings would make marginal impacts to our overall skiing. Most of us would never impact the bindings hard enough for all metal to make a difference. The rest is cap though

It’s not about that though. It’s the fact that a metal pivot is going to last for YEARS to come. Look how many rossignol versions are still up for grabs 10+ years later that are still very usable. Not gonna happen with plastic bindings.

They’re not usable tho because shops won’t install them and modern boots won’t fit them.

Yet plenty of people buy them, mount them and use them. So another L post from you again
