Are lippy jumps ever a good thing?

Ok so first off I'm not saying jumps that send you at a high angle, im talking about the speed of the transition.

On a park jump is it ever good to have a sharp fast transition? I personally hate the feeling, I like jumps with slow mouth transitions regardless of size or ultimate takeoff angle. I find it allows you to stay much more composed on your takeoff instead of it feeling like the jump is punching you.

Also another disclaimer, I know lippy jumps are good for learning your first inverts and even dubs sometimes, but in general I feel like a good skier who is comfortable with their tricks can do them just as easily on a jump with a smooth transition (if its big enough)

Am I wrong? I very well could be.

I sort of hate how quick the transitions are on a lot of jumps these days. Well on "good" jumps these days. There was always a huge variance back in the day but in established parks with big jump lines some are way too tight for me.

I don't mind getting throw super high, but I don't want to come down a steep hill and in 10 feet be at a 35 degree angle. Jumps can pretty much be as steep as they want, but it's the gap and speed required that gets you. A short jump like 5 feet can be pretty much straight up and nobody cares. The whole take off doesn't even need to be tall. You make that a longer gap with more speed and it's like hitting a wall.

At cutters camp years ago it was mentioned how jumps don't throw you upside down it's people(relating to a bunch of specific lawsuits and general injuries) I argued that some do. Some people build jumps that are way too fast for the gap size. The more established parks not so much, but still some are too quick for me to hit. I've ridden good parks where I wouldn't hit anything they had over a 30' because I just didn't feel like hitting their wall of a takeoff and eating shit.

Everything comes down to preference but some jumps are kinda janky imo.

Where the fuck would you even land? On the landing of the jump before it? Like a portal jump of sorts? Or would you just dub eject, break your legs and still this jump.

I like longer/mellower jumps more, kicky ones are alright if they are built right (with a flat consistent pitch at the end). I think the industry standard is like 6 feet of flat before the end of the lip or something like that

Our park manager likes to make super kicky jumps that curve all the way through and it’s annoying because anyone who actually knows to pop off the lip gets sent to the fucking moon

Lippy jumps suck. I dont understand why a jump has to go from downhill to +30 degrees in a few feet. My local park does this all the time.
