Are frogskins worth over $100?

Why are frogskins so expensive? most oakley goggles aren't as much as frogskins, what's up with that? Seems like just a stupid fad they are trying to get money from
 
They are worth what people are willing to pay.

If everyone stopped paying over $120 for them on the bay, prices would fall - but thats not going to happen.
 
For people who know sunglasses well people would pay that much, but to the untrained eye they don't look that special.
 
Just looking at them they don't look that amazing, but i bet the lense and stuff is super nice. You can buy the rip off ones but the lenses on those suck
 
its a huge fad right now, and people with money are willing to pay in order for "the next cool thing", its because they are "retro" and thats what "the cool kids" are wearing.
 
if you got the money and want them why not? but i could think of much better things to do with $100.
 
I collect the shit out of them, but I get them for a good price, otherwise, I doubt I would pay more than 100 for them.. I dunno.. some of the colors that are coming out are super sick...

But when the demand is greater than the supply, that's what happens. Each colorway is limited to 3000 pairs worldwide.. That's pretty limited when you think about it.

The lens are great Oakley quality, but they are pretty basic..
 
maybe ive been brainwashed by oakley but i think its worth the $...i first tried on oakleys about a month ago and my first impreesion was good, the lenses really caught my attn. over the next couple days my friend tried to convince me to get a pair and i didnt really think it was worth it until i saw this video that shows the quality of oakley...its pretty amazing...not only do u get a sick looking sunglass but you also get SUPERIOR quality

my friend bought some for $70.... and i wouldnt pay more than $20 for them... but its all in the type of look you want...

the reason they are so expensive is becasue they are oakley..... and oakley will always make expensive sunglasses... IMO just buy $10 sunglasses or less so you dont feel bad when you sit on them and break them..
 
they also used to make the EXACT same glasses in the 90's, but they didnt call them frogskins. i saw a guy the other day at Q'doba wearing black ones that were probably 10 years old but they were an identical mold...same logo style on the ear pieces and everything, even reflective lenses. they probably werent called frogskins back then, though, but who knows.

i guess what im trying to say is do some research and try to find some of the old ones online on ebay or something for super duper cheap. if you get them in good condition, youll be a winner, and since they made them in different colors back then, people will think you got your hands on some sort of special edition ones or something.
 
yea video is sick, but frogskins are overpriced, but i guess all oakley's kinda are. Good argument for the fact that they are super high quality, but frogskins look like they would break really easily
 
oakleys quality rapes everyone else. we had the olab at my shop like a month ago and i watched that in person, they were offering a grand to anyone who put on a pair of oakleys and let them drop the spike on them. soooo legit

I wouldn't think twice about spending thst much on sunglasses. Although i wouldn't buy shitty oakleys.

Get some Prada, Tom Ford or Dolce and Gabbana for like $300+

 
my bubble aint burst, i was just trying to help people out if i could. i wouldnt pay that much for wayfarers anyway, the only ones i wear are the $4 gas station ones with the neon ears. i spend my real money on ray bans and the like, not oakleys. ray ban predators are the best sunglasses ive ever owned.
 
Frogskins looked stupid back in the day, and they still do now. I wouldn't pay $1 for them, much less $100.
 
i have a pair of original frogskins, i found at my grandmas, cost:free, just get yourself a pair of cheap neon sunglasses
 
the sunglasses are pretty sick,but they cost so much partly becuase of the video that some kid posted,but also becuase they have all the pros wear them.if you have the money,get them,if your strapped like most of us get sick knock offs,cant tell the disatnce unless looking for it and up close
 
All your doing is paying for the name. Just look up Wayfarers and then it lists a bunch for under 20$ that look exactly the same only they dont say oakley on the side
 
they're too expensive but people will pay, so why not charge the max that people will pay? it probably costs them a few cents to make a pair but they can slap LIMITED EDITION and RARE RARE ZOMGZ all over them and people freak, they think they're getting a special deal
 
oakley is pricy but is super legit. i got suckered into buying a pair of polerized romeo 2.0 which retail for 415. my friend pushed me when i was on the deck of our hotel room on the 14 floor and they fell to the ground. i ran down and they were still perfect no scratches or anything
