Are down rails hard to do?

I can do normal boxes and rails and am looking to try a down box. How much more difficult are down rails then flat rails. Any tips will help

They're easier for me because it's harder to slip off. Even with a tiny down handrail, gravity helps you stay on.

For some people it can be harder to lock, just be really focused on keeping the weight of your front foot side shoulder and hip down hill

I think down rails are much easier. Down rails to me seem much easier than down boxes idk why. As long as you keep your weight a little forward you'll stomp it

It's like any other rail honestly just make sure you get enough speed and pop on good enough because when you undershoot on your pop that's when it gets sketchy

Big, slippery tubes can be difficult when they are down. Sometimes..

Truuu I've eaten shit on down tubes sometimes when they are mad slippery and I don't expect...

But yea you will won't to lean more forward than you think, and my biggest advice is to get low and have mad tortilla steeze. The lower you are the better balance on the rail you will have (for slipping out/falling forward)

Personally, I find downrails to be much easier than flat rails. They are also less scary imo, just going straight i feel like I eat shit a lot less and no nutting ( on the rail I use)

My tips would be to come in slow, feet wide and make sure you come in parallel with the rail, but to the side. Then when you hop on you can either step on close foot first or pop and twist, I personally step on but apparently thats the worse way to do it.

Good luck!

Personally down rails are way easier for me and more fun. Just go in with a comfortable amount of speed and do it just like any other rail or box. Make sure you commit to it so you dont slip out tho.

naturally youre going to want to lean back and youd fall on your butt. dont lean forward too much to the extent that you catch your front edge though. its more of a 60/40 distribution of your weight- 60% on your back foot and 40% on your front foot. if anything you should put more weight on your back foot though. the fall backward will be much less painful than the fall forward

i think rails are easier than boxes the big surface are feels weird. my biggest tip for learning down rails is dont concentrate on leaning forward to match the angle of the rail. your body will naturally land where you need it. just stay loose and dont lean to far forward or backward

Pretend you're jumping on the rail with just your sneakers as if you were going to soap shoe the rail.

Go slower

hop on the rail normally,

keep your weight a little more on your front foot, after bang

Agree! You can also do your own techniques. Do whatever you're comfortable to do. I guess nothing's hard. It just a matter of how well you've practiced it!
