Arcteryx

aight so you lot might not be the ones to ask but very close to dropping the cash on an arc rush jacket. question is whether they really are worth the buy, or just save the cash and grab something else 90% as good for half the cost.

open to input from people who've actually used them and also people who are going to bully tf out of me

The real question here is whether you actually need the best Goretex fabric and the functionality it has.

If so, go for it.

If you are actually looking for a windbreaker that can take care of occasional 5mins in rain, save your money and get something cheaper.

Ive had a beta ar that I use all year round for 3 years now and it still looks brand new. Id say it's worth it if you plan on keeping it for a while. You can also find used one for half the price.

I have the Rush Jacket and its by far the best piece of kit I own. I don't wear it all the time but it will last forever if you treat it well and its amazing quality.

The patrol my gf is on switched from Arcteryx to Spyder recently and its a noticeable drop in quality. Not that Spyder is bad or anything, but if you are really going to use the hell out of it (like a patroller in it 120 days/season in any and all conditions) I'd say its worth it.

Personally I almost always ski in a sweatshirt so I have no need, so again just reiterating its good kit just make sure you need it before dropping that type of $$$

i have an old arc jacket my dad gave me after having it for like 5 years. Its super warm and just has a couple pieces of duck tape. Just by used/or just look for a sale

I love my rush I've been skiing with mine since late november. I've done 6-8 hours of ropetow laps in the rain with it and ive never gotten even a lil wet. I tacoed on some rails like 4-5 times this season and no scuffs/damage on it whatsoever. Still beads after 6 months of daily use which i would expect from such an expensive jacket, but imma definitely put some waterproofing wash on it just to keep the mebrane fresh.

It’s worth it if you get something goretex pro IMO, can’t recommend the beta AR enough !

skiied for 3 hours in the rain this weekend and was totally dry under

I’ve never heard of panda buy and now I’m down a wormhole. It’s ripoff stuff and you just organize a shipment essentially? What are these agents they keep talking about?

Ur package has a chance of being siezed by customs. The bigger ur package the higher chance it will be seized.

And ur agent is basically the store/seller

If you have connections with anyone who works at a ski shop hit them up. Got my rush jacket by working in rentals for a month until I got discount privileges and dipped. Sweet jacket imo, get it before Gore-Tex stops using PFAS.

True. Used to have a lot of Norrøna, but ended up downgrading to Burton for looser fit. Definitely a step down but still high enough quality with Goretex 2/3L membrane.

For me, it's always been utterly impossible to understand how people settle for non-waterproof ski gear. Or the quality of the trendy parachute pant brands. Yes, the weather patterns have their differences geologically but I've yet to find a circumstance where the benefit of a proper shell membrane is non-existent in skiing pants. I ski in a hoodie for most of the days when the sky is clear, but whenever some form of water drops down from the sky, I'll wear a Goretex jacket too.

Facts waterproof is most important. In fact thats all I’m really lookin for when I shop for new shit. I get my things from weird places. Like I have a nice wind/waterproof jacket from a boat store that works insanely well out on the hill and it’s fly. Only like 20 bucks. Idc about brand names anymore it’s all about color/style and functionality for me

The old Arc Sabre LT jacket is my favorite by far. 4th season and barely looks worn. I've been through branches, icy falls, etc and it's always unscathed.

I've got 4 seasons (~150 days) using a rush jacket 80% of the time; it's held up amazingly well (no issues though it seems to be a bit less waterproof now).

i’m rocking my beta rn only problem i had with it was with the glue they use instead of stitching. cause yk i had the arc i had to be core and sinch the bottom as hard as i could. this caused the glue to separate and the cord actually came out. i repaired it myself and it’s fine now but obviously not resealable now. other than that they drip and core worth it fosho?
