Arcteryx PROCLINE AR CARBON BOOT Vs. the rest

I have a pro deal with Arcteryx and have been looking into a touring set up for a few years now. The procline carbon boot is at a stellar price right now. I have not been able to find a lot about the boot and what it's really like to ride and the day to day with the boot. I know Arcteryx and Salomon have the same parent company so quality and design would be very similar. Whats the NS suggestions? Procline? Fulltilt ascension instead?

The Procline is very much an uphill-oriented boot. If you're doing long tours and/or don't need to drive your skis very hard, it's great. But if you want to ski as hard in the backcountry as you do in the resort, you're probably better off with a (slightly) heavier boot.

Here's a review of the Procline, and then there are a bunch of other options compared in the "Ski Boots" section of this guide.

the procline is for serious touring. downhill performance is seriously compromised for uphill. I recommend the boot to people that are going very long distances, and tour a lot. I wouldn't suggest it for a first touring boot. The FT touring boot is pretty much a regular FT that can tour. Much better transition if you're just getting into touring. Go try any of these, good crossover touring boots: The Dalbello Lupo, Lange XT, Technica Cochise, Salomon MTN LAB, Atomic Hawx ultra XTD. - all better than the FT ascender - imo

You also have to keep in mind the compatibility of the procline, it doesn’t really have a toe lug and barely has a heel lug, which limits you to tech bindings only.

I couldn’t find anything on the website about compatibility with kingpins or tectons but I would bet since the target audience for that boot doesn’t care about downhill performance it’s probably not compatible.

Technica Zero G tour? Thoughts?

Totally different. The Zero G doesn't tour quite as well as the Procline, but the Zero G skis wayyy better. I'd say the Zero G feels like a decent 120 flex, or maybe close to a 130 if you really crank it down. But I have no problem driving big skis in the Zero G, whereas I have to ski super centered / balanced in the Procline.

Any issue with the lugs and compatibility with the zero G?

no, they're a standard touring boot norm so they'd work with the Shift, Kingpin, Tecton, any tech binding, and any MNC binding (e.g., Warden, Tyrolia AAAttack AT, and Marker ID series).

In the case of wider feet. 99mm cut it with a heat mold? Or go to a wider boot?

That's not really a question someone on the internet can answer for you. Best option is to go to a bootfitter and see what actually fits your foot. Everyone's feet are different, and there's a lot more to it than just last width.

Picked up Lupo 120. Unreal boot
