Arc'teryx Alpha Sv Overkill?

Hey guys, I'm buying a Alpha Sv For a killer deal. Mostly for hiking and touring, and wear it around the town when It's hardcore out there.

Do some of you guys have it?

Do you think It's overkill?

Atom LT and AR gonna be layer for it

It's cut more for climbing so it runs a little shorter than their white line collection.

The sidewinder sv would be the equivalent to the Alpha from the skiing/snowboarding specific collection.

Either way Arcteryx builds quality pieces. I have a pair of their pants that have seen well over 150days in and out of bounds and they barely show any wear. If you're getting a killer deal you can try selling it and using that money to buy something more targeted toward skiing use. If and/or when my Patagonia jacket wears out theres a couple of Arcteryx jackets on my shortlist to replace it with.

Where do you ski/hike? I would not tour or hike on a pro shell gore jacket nor would recommend anyone to do, look for something more breathable, lithic, procline, gamma mx would be your best options for hiking and touring!

but you said killer deal, if the price is really good and you live in the pnw than it might be worth it.

Not sure on the cut of the alpha sv, but I rock mostly all arcteryx gear and I love them. Super durable, amazing fit, just great quality pieces. My main jacket is the Theta sv, which is now the Theta svx I believe.

I know it's more of a climbing jacket. I can have it for 200$ ( CAD ), so at that price and the use I need it to, which is, tour when I go out west and hike here, I don't see myself saying no.

I have a North face Oroshi on the way too, but I sold all my pro shell and the Alpha sv woulg be my shell till next years.

I'll grab a North face freethinker or Front Point

I have friends that tour and ski resort in the Alpha SV. It's definitely a shorter fit but still has decent coverage, especially if you match it with a hybrid or softshell bib you'd have an awesome set up. Either way its a super bomber jacket and Arc'teryx has one of the best warranties in the industry so if you don't like it odds are you could trade it in for the Rush or something like that.

I won't be able to trade it in store, I had a Rush, sold it 2 weeks ago, It was to big, I bought a large, newschooler made me do it

For the pant, I have The north fave freethinker and Orage Jp Auclair soft-shell gore-tex pants. So i'll wear my Orage pant whit the Alpha.

I might be able to trade it to someone tho, on here, Someone want a Black Medium Alpha Sv for a Rush ? haha

Like, I don't have any gore tex pro,

But My plan is having for the next season,

Alpha SV (pro)

Free thinker (pro, but for skiing in the resort)

Oroshi (active, summer and late winter touring)

Freethinker bibs (pro)

Jp Auclair (softshell)

maybe overkill, but for $200 you might as well do it.

I got the sidewinder last year for that reason. probably going to pick up an alpha SV this year if they have a colour I like.

i'll get it, and my Atom sl is on the way.

Working at tnf but I have more arc'teryx jacket then North face.
