Arch pain from ski boots, need solution

This only happens on tow ropes which I unfortunately ski 70% because I'm in (location in sig). It started when I bought these Super Feet as they were to lock my feet in place. They basically have a plastic support underneath which kills me when I jump.

After I couldn't take the pain anymore, I just took them out and skied around in my liners for a bit, which reduced the pain 97% (I still get a small amount of pain but it's tolerable and it fades fast). The downside to this is that my foot slips around like a puck on ice. So I went and bought some Dr. Scholls Massaging Gel insoles, figuring it would improve my ability to take impacts. But even those with little arch support killed my feet.

What do I do?

Based on what you have said, you will benefit greatly from wearing some kind of arch support in your regular, everyday shoes. Basically, what is happening is that your foot is collapsing (normal) and tightening (normal) every step of every day that you walk around. The pain you are experiencing is also normal- your tendons, ligaments, and tissues are now adjusting to the support WHILE you are trying to ski. That = pain.

Arch support in a ski boot does wonders for your balance, control, and overall performance. Do yourself a flavor and put them in your street shoes to get used to them. Wear them for a few hours each day, then progress to wearing them all day. Then dunk them in your ski boots the next time you shred it up. It will get better, a lot better, as most anyone on here will also tell you.

Exactly this. i have high arches and quite bad feet in general and i had arch pain while using ski boots until i put some decent insoles in my everyday shoes.

thank you very much, that really helps me out. I forgot to mention that I've had those Super Feet in my boots for a whole season already. I'll try wearing them in my everyday shoes and hope my feet adjust.

agreed

go to your local foot doctor and get orthotics made from a cast of your feet.

I did this cuz i would get this pain in my arch (felt like a knife going through my arch) because it was collapsing when i would run. i also had knee and back problems and what not. Now i got them, wear them in my street shoes, cleats, and i can even wear them in my ski boots although i have custom footbeds for those. it was truly the greatest thing i have ever gotten from a doctor (next to antibiotics and steroids when i was realllly sick), plus it was fully covered under insurance.

look into fully custom footbed for your ski boots. they are molded to your exact feet, they arent a pre made arch support but rather a support for your actual arches.

I'm Canadian so....it may likely qualify as a free medical expense already. I'd have to ask my mom, she uses custom footbeds.

BUMP im having the same issue. I have the superfeet kork customs or whatever, but my arches always hurt super bad and I think it's because I don't wear arch supports in my everyday shoes.

Should I take the footbed straight out of my ski boot and wear that in my shoes? Or do I have to buy a separate footbed for other shoes?

The issue itself is probably the super kork. The korks dont actually surport the medial or lateral arch, they only surport the mid tarsal joint which is the joint that connects the rear and mid foot. Because of thois if you have a fairly unstable foot the foot can actually twist around the mid tarsal joint which in turn can lead top a streching feeling in the medial arch.

In all honesty any boot which comes in with a superfeet or surefoot footbed, I will generally replace the footbed with a sidas straight away. 9 times out of 10 this will resolve the issues the customer has with the boot and will also fit the bootrs generally alot better.

Take the boots top a sidas stockist and see what they think.
