Ar7 or THALL?

Ok guys,

So I'm going to pick up my new skis this weekend, and I had my heart set on the AR7, however I started reading about the thall and it sounded like a pretty good ski as well.

My Specs:

Advanced skiier

150lbs

skiing 50% park 50% all mnt.

So would I be able to charge groomers as hard with the thall. what do you guys think?

Thalls are softer than the AR7s. Typically, I'd say that the AR7 is more for that park skier who wants to still be able to ski all over the mountain.

Thalls though, are super soft in the tip and tail, but still stiff underfoot so jumps wont slow you down.

Hey I really recommend you to buy the T-Halls. I bought them last week and, just like you, Iwas hesitating between the Ar7's and the T-Halls. After flexing the Ar7's and the T-Halls, I noticed the T-Halls are super soft at the tips and super stiff and stable under the font, wich is what you need in jumps (stability and stiffness under the boots) and rails (softness for jibbing/buttering in the park). I ride mostly park and I am so stoked about them!

well, if you go on the armada site, then you will notice that the thall and the ar7 are almost the exact same ski. they have the same deminsions, and the same stuff in them. i asked a guy at ski and gulf about this and he said the only difference is that the thall is more kicked up. id go with the ar7.

Yaaaa no. The ar7 is stiffer and more of a park ski that can go all mountain. The thall is softer, more jibby and isnt really that great out of the park.

here is your answer: (courtesy of mrstskier)

do you only ski in the park? - thall

do you ski outside of the park? - ar7

not 100% true, you could prefer the ar7 as your park ski, but basically this. and the same philosophy goes for mounting. if you always ride them in the park, mount them center. if you will also ride them outside the park, mount them back depending on your preference.

thanks for all the help guys, I think I'm going to just go with the ar7 mounted 2.5 off true center which is what an armada rep recommended.

2.5 is pretty far back if you're going to be in the park 50% of the time. I would go with 1.5-2, that's just my preference though.

The Thall and AR7 are both not symmetrical skis, and thus will not ski the best at true center. You WILL be fighting the sidecut of the ski if mounted there. My own AR6's are mounted at center, I fucked up.
It depends on where you're riding, but I know I talked to Tyson Hall when my bro was picking up his Alpha 2s last season, and the farthest FORWARD anyone mounts their own bindings on the Armada team is 1.5 forward (Tanner himself).
Mount them at 1.5 back for park. 2.5 back for all mountain. Pay attention to what the makers of the product are trying to tell you, they want you to be happy
