AR6 or Chronic

Hey NS

I have the 08 AR6 size 162 and they have served me well. But after 2 seasons they have kinda fallen apart. I like there flex pattern and i was wondering how the chronic compares to it both the 09/10 and 10/11.

Thanks for the help +K

The Chronic will be much stiffer than both. By the way, 10/11 AR6 is actually changed to the new AR7 with sidewall and cap construction.

Thanks 2 more Q's

1. Is the new "AR7" stiffer

2. What LINE ski would be good on jumps and rails and a bit of tree skiing and such (in BC)

Because it's centre mounted it's going to be pretty crap in the trees.
It'll get you through them, but it is a 100% oriented park ski.
If you're in the park 80-90% of the time I'd go with the anthem. It's a better ski than the A-bang from what I've read, and the extra width would come in handy in the trees.
If you like a stiffer ski, go with the chronic cryptonite. It'll destroy jumps and rails and kill it in the trees as well. Only thing is butters are pretty tough on it.

Chronic Cryptonites or Blends sound like a pretty good park/trees ski. How about the Kung Fujas?
Could you give some percentages on how much time you spend in the park/trees? If it's like 90-10 then you should check out the Anthems. If it's about 50-50 then maybe Kung Fujas or Blend, or you could also consider Elizabeths (way soft but fun).

Rockered park skis are fun, you could up a size and get Reno Rockers or Alphas. Either should do better than normal park skis in any powder. As far as normal cambered park jump skis, Pipe Cleaners are way better than you're 08 AR6s, they're by far my favorite normal design park ski(and I mostly do jumps).

I've ridden both. The chronic is stiffer than the ar6 in the nose by a decent amount. I think the ar6 gets stiffer from nose to tail, right? I'd say the tails are only a little softer, if not the same in both skis. They both have a ton of pop, I think the ar6 was slightly more lively when jumping around. The ar6 felt lighter, that may be due to the slight difference in pop and stiffness or it may just be lighter. I like the symmetrical flex in the chroincs though, they're really fun to land backwards on.
