Appropriate ski size for large jumps, but still the same shortish feel on rails?

Hello newschooler,

I need some help when it comes to choosing the right ski size for this winter, but ive been having some doubts. Info: Im 5.10-11 ish, 185-190 pounds quite agressive skier, and 95% park riding. Do about 50/50 when its comes to jumps vs rails. I love buttery skis so im getting the 2012/13 T-Hall (maybe ARV?) and have the same ski but from 2010 in size 171. Im wondering if 171 is too short for me in general, even though i have almost allways skied a smaller ski. Im thinking of going up to the 176 but then the ski would be exactly as tall as me and maybe not as playful when it comes to butters etc. Thoughts?

+K for good responses! Please no hate in the thread! Thanks for the help.

in my opionion you shoould be riding like a 181-186ish. If it was rocker it could still hadle jumps well but be playful enough for butters and feel short and light on rails.. but thats just my 2cents

176 ftw I'm 5'10" 180, in the park I'm currently riding 172 and it feels too short

Same height as you And I have 2 pair's. Of 176cm and one pair of 179cm. They are perfect, can imagine going shorter then that

Already had you at 10/10! Thanks for the reply tho man! Im really confident that the 176 will do the trick :)

well i'm 5'9, closing in on 5'10 and I just bought 181 filthy riches. and i weigh 60 pounds less than you. definitely get 176. you'll like the extra length on big jumps.

I think i would also ride 181 in the FR if i had them, because of the camber, but i think on a regular ski i would have to go 176. Thanks for the respons man!

I know size is mostly preference, but look into bigger sizes, im 5'8 and am getting 174 domains which measure to 177. But i do mainly ski rails, If i wanted more of a jump ski i would of gone to 179 which translates to a 182. Bigger skis are much more fun, you are stable and feel nice in the air, and also still feel great for rails because you get used to the extra length quite fast. I know ski length is all preference but im just giving my two cents.
