Applying to UVM

Currently applying to college, and UVM is one of my top choices. How is it up there? Easy to get to the ski mountains? How many NSers go to UVM or around the area?
 
lots of NSers go there. the moutains are pretty close, i dont know the specifics cause i dont want to go there. but there is a strong ski community
 
jay, smuggs, stowe, mad river... perfect location for skiing. i'm pretty sure there are great season's pass deals for college students in the area as well.

if you're interested in the area but don't think you can make it into UVM, you can take the Ian Compton route and check out Champlain College down the street instead...
 
Every mountain nearby has some type of college deal, most with other mountains (sugarbush+mad river, smuggs+bolton, jay+burke). the ski and snowboard club has busses up most weekends to all of the mountains.

If you want to compete and work on progressing, the freeskiing team is awesome. The coach is great, there're vans up to stowe almost every day, and they pay your entry fees into comps.

 
UVM is definitely the best school in the east for skiing. There are a couple different options for ski passes at a student rate. Jay is 199$, Jay + Burke was 229$, Bolton/smuggs 249$, Stowe 375$, Sugarbush, Ellen only 219$, Lincoln and Ellen 329$, Sugarbush All + mad river 359$. Basically in the winter you can get to the mountain everyday if you are looking to go. FST is also a great option with great coaching, tramps, and all sorts of outrageous fun!

UVM is fucking awesome, couldn't be happier to be going here. I don't have anything insightful to add other than this picture of our hometown celebrity.

Well he was Kornbread but now he tells everyone to call him Kingbread. He's just a cool coke dealer who just wanders to a bunch of the parties in town, freestyles all the time, and yells at people.
 
Corn Bread is played. Bird Man was the og cart pusher bar bumb. cb slings wack shit too. anyways if u like to party and ski uvm is pretty sick. btown is small and you get to know everyone pretty fast. makes for great party scean and fun bar sceen. fall and spring is really nice in town. great swimming in the summers and the skiing is great. i got the smuggs and bolton pass altho i dont attend schooling. gotta hustle that deal yo.

if you liek weed skiing and dubstep then go to uvm. or champlain which i like better actualy. depeneds on your studies.
 
Burlington is cool. Being a senior at UVM, I can say that it has gotten more and more lame every year, it's time for the right people to come back and liven the place back up. It is still very fun, perfect place to meet people and go skiing. You've got a handful of mountains within 2 hours (Killy being the farthest). Your best bet is Sugarbush Mad River, you get everything you could ask for at an hour away. Jay has great skiing, but it can be quite a drive if it's snowy.
 
All I can really say is is you end up at UVM, don't waste your money on FST, or Stowe. Worst shit to happen to skiing. Ski with your friends.
 
UVM is the place to be, all the mountians around here are real fun. My winners are STOWE woods, SUGARBUSH rails, BOLTON night slayers, MADRIVER when you can. Whatever you get out of this post, going to UVM will be the best decision of your young adult life.
 
lol wut... get this hater outta here. stowe is where its at for all aspects of skiing and FST is what u make of it, which in most cases is a dope time. worst shit to happen to skiing? ..take a lap
 
I go up to Burlington just about every school vacation I have. I am also really interested in visiting UVM, just out of curiosity, what credentials to you need to get in. I would say Im a pretty decent student (AP classes and whatnot), so what should I expect as getting in is concerned. Also I heard it's crazy expensive, but that may just be a rumor

I applied november 1st but VIP, so rolling admission. They had to email me to clarify a few things on my application in december though so I didn't hear back until a week ago.
