So ski season is almost here. And, to increase the stoke, there is nothing better than giving. The first item is probably the best one I will give away this winter - ski rack components! It is set of four Thule mounting feet and two 48" mounting bars. For those of you want a ski rack but have never had one, this is 2 out of 4 components you will need to transport skis on your roof. The third is a fit kit specific to your car. The feet mount on the roof/gutter, but the fit kit is the right clips to secure the feet to the car. The fourth item is the rack itself that mounts to the bars. The bars and feet together run about $250-$275 when brand new. They are about 5 years old, but only used for the equivalent of a full season. They have scratches and nicks, so don't think you are getting some sweet brand new set, but they should work for years to come. They currently have fit clips for a 2004 Toyota Corolla (yes, it was not the sweetest winter car :) so if you want them you can have those as well.

The requirement for getting them is your application in the thread below. Please write 3-4 sentences on why you need a ski rack this year and can't afford one. I will award the winner here in two days. Get set, go!

I deserve the ski rack because I am a college student working a minimum wage job as a photographer. Also, I have a small car ( Nissan Sentra) that is not very ski friendly as i learned last year with the dings on the inside of my doors. Its going to be my second year skiing and the ski rack will help me take groups of local riders on ski trips to bigger mountains. :)

A very nice starting entry. Though, I do dislike cats and my wife is allergic to them. But, I won't hold it against you :)

CRAP. I forgot a major point here: you have to pay for shipping. I am dead broke. It will be around $25 in the U.S. And Canadians I am willing to accept your entries, but shipping is going to be like $50, so don't submit if you can't pay, please. Thanks!

You are one of the best member here! Btw if someone want the thule rack and can't pay for shipping cause he's dead broke too I will give him 10$ so it will cover some of the shipping cost.

I deserve this ski rack because I'm a broke college student who drives a tiny VW golf. I am in culinary school do if I win I can make you delicious meals and always free dinning at my restaurant once I graduate and open my own. And it will be a ski bum friendly restaurant in a major ski town suck as PC, whistler or Revy

i deserve this ski rack because im awesome and broke..... i drive a bad ass ($2500 car dont think im some spoiled prick;)) 1994 bmw 325i, its a piece but it gets me to the mountain. it'd be super nice to be able to store my skis on the top, as the seats dont fold down in the car, while im in class. I hate to stick them out through the window like i normally have to do. or to stick them in the passenger seat and scratch up and ruin the interior more than it already is. lol but YOURE AWESOME, what a generous thing for you to do even if i dont win, so rad of you. NS needs more people like you.

thanks for being a pal to some random winner. id enter but im so broke i dont even have a car. and cant even pay to go to college. but can somehow afford season passes:) thanks anyway.

I think i might deserve this ski rack because even though skiing is considered a "rich persons sport", about 75% of skiers are dead broke and just do it for the love of the sport and the people that surround them. I am part of the 75%, I couldnt even afford this rack let alone barely being able to pay for gas for my car. I think it is a very nice thing you are doing and even if you don't choose me, it doesn't matter because at least I know that there are nice people like you out there on not only Newschoolers but on this planet.

This rack for me is essentially the difference between skiing a lot, or never being able to drive to the mountain. You see I drive a very old Jeep, and skis simply do not fit inside, and there's no way else of carrying them (Unless you count holding them out the window. In which case I would freeze my smaller than average hands off and quite possibly kill me.. The cold will also most likely shrink the family jewels, making for quite th embarrassing experience with the ladies...) anyways, i wouldn't be able to fit skis in the car so I couldn't get up there nearly as much as I plan. I've been looking around at buying a rack for my car, but they are so expensive and I was recently Fired from my absolutely killer job at Wendy's. (I know, how do you get find from that place? Well, it wasn't easy. But I can explain later) I absolutely love this ski community. And would be beyond honored to be given this rack. It would most definitely change my life and multiple of my friends lives. Because I will be driving a lot of them up and we cant fit any skis in the car!

Sparknotes. You rock, I NEED this rack, small wieners, NS rocks, and I am basically a bus driver to my friends.

my buddies and I cram 4 deep into the mazda 3 and drive 2.5 hrs twice a week to shred up in tahoe. We are all broke college students working in various restaurants in order to keep living the dream. The ski rack, although not necessary, as we've been cramming four deep for years now, would make life easier and more comfortable while at the same time opening up space for more beer and luggage.

I believe that i deserve the ski rack because i have a passion for skiing and a tight wallet. I have worked all summer and last winter busing tables and working park crew with the dream of driving down to the states and living and skiing with my friend, who will be accompanying me on the drive. Now this wouldn't be such a huge deal, except for the fact that i live in Alaska, and i cant exactly afford to fly down there. I plan to drive the Alcan in November, through northern Canada and down into the states. A ski rack is 100% detrimental to my success, as i cannot fit all our skis, clothes, and gear to survive in my small 1994 Saab 900. I am 18 and just out of high school, and have been working six day weeks for the last six months with this dream in mind, and winning this ski rack would be an amazing help. I would not have to spend precious cash on a craigslist rack,(which normally run around 150-200 up here anyways) and i'll have more money to spend on gas/rent.Thanks,

Logan Huvar

Very nice guys. Genitalia, though not my favorite name, has the winning entry. Please PM me to work out the details of getting the feet and bars to you.

To the other entries, I do have a few other things to give away that you may want. PM me and see if I have something you might need this winter that I can send you for free. Items include:

- size large Ground jacket in medium blue and black. brand new with tags, but fits more like an XL

- size large Sessions pants in brown. Gore-Tex, but a bit beat up. With a couple of patches would be a great pair of pants for a couple of years

- sick Camelbak, designed for skiing. Paid like $80 a couple of years ago but haven't used it much

- size XL Oakley softshell hoodie. Tan with dark green graphics

- size medium Smith Variant Brim helmet in brown with a couple of NS stickers. In good overall shape with some nicks and scratches

- silver A-frames with regular persimmon lens. Good condition.

Again, those are only for the entries that didn't win. PM me and we'll work out getting them to you. To repeat though, you have to pay for shipping.
