Apple watch and skiing

Got an apple watch for Christmas. Mostly using it too unlock my phone with my covid mask on and find my phone when I lose it, but it's gotta have some ski benefits too.

Any tips? Generally I don't track turns or whatever, but if there's some skiing specific workout stuff or other minor use tips, lay them on me.

There is a downhill skiing workout you can set it to, it just tracks normal exercise stuff not vert or anything. There are a few good vert tracking apps but I don't use them so I can't tell you whats good or not.

Ive heard slopes works pretty well, might be able to connect slopes with an apple watch and get a more accurate heart rate

Slopes was good last year but it has more of a paywall now

Yea the downhill skiing tracking on it doesn't do anything besides distance but you can connect slopes to the watch, haven't tried it yet tho

+k to all thanks.

Any other super general setup tips? Glove layering or whatever?

I called 911 on Saturday because I didn't know about the options to change the crown orientation. Or about the ski workout mode, hopefully it locks out the long hold 911.

Turn on the water mode. The screen stays on but is unresponsive and you just have to turn the crown to unlock it.
