My teacher just told me apple is discontinuing thier production of Apple laptops/computers. Im not sure if this is true but its going to suck for everyone who wants to get a apple computer product.

Yea i heard that too.. also in similiar new's Martha stewert and Tanner are dating and armada is beeing bought out by Dell.

BHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHHAHHAHHAHAVHBAABHAHAHHHAHAHHAHAHH

You're a fucking moron, and your "teacher" needs to have his/her's teaching certificate REVOKED.

they have stopped producing computers with PPC processors and instead are switching to x86 infastructure (intel chips)... so maybe thats what your teacher was talking about?

it's unlikely that apple will ever release osx to run on PCs, but you can run windows on an intel mac. that's just the way apple works, haha.

my teacher said something like it takes up alot of time to design and make computers, and they are going to stick with multi-media products. thats just what i heard.

sounds like a rediculous claim.

On a side note, I just bought virtual Pc so I can run windows on my mac now. yes!

I don't get why apple would want to change their processor other than to make it cheaper. The PPC chip is the reason people got a mac. Now an apple is no different from a pc.

I hate that Apple is switching... hopefully it really is for the better and they aren't going to use their bland self destructing processors...

OSX is why people buy a mac. people like not having to wory about viruses and spyware, and having things just work. apple is switching to intel because they have a better future road map than PPC. intel will bring faster computers, expecaily in the notebook line. last update the powerbooks didn't get a speed bump because the G4 chip can't be improved anymore.

i heard that McDonald's bought out Apple. And McDonald's is owned by Intrawest, so Apple will now begin producing white and transparent ski lifts.

yes but OSX was designed for PPC which was only found in macs. Now that apple is switching to intel, OSX will no longer only be found on macs, pcs will be able to run it. People will have the option of whether they want to buy a mac or a pc since both will be able to run OSX. I uno, this can go either way for apple its hard to tell. But once this happens I can see viruses and spyware beginning to increase. Apple is great and I will continue to support them.

although the common PC will be able to run OSX it will be a hacked version with out anykind of support from apple, so it won't run well. apple will have measures to make sure OSX will only run on apple computers as they currently have no plans to license OSX out to other PC makers.

"Will I be able to run Mac OS X on my Dell?

No.

"We will not allow running Mac OS X on anything other than an Apple Mac." - Phil Schiller

Granted, many users have reported that they got Mac OS X to run on their PC, using developer copies of Mac OS X. However, this can be very problematic and it is not permitted by Apple. When x86 Macs start coming to market, it is likely that there will be some sort of digital rights management to keep Mac OS X from running on non-Apple machines.

and...

Will Macs switching to Intel processors mean viruses will be coming to Mac?

No. The insecurity of Windows is what causes the propagation of viruses. For instance, Mac OS X user accounts don't run with root privileges as in Windows. Windows also ships with a lot of ports open by default, while Mac OS X ships with none. However, while the design of the x86 architecture is, theoretically, more vulnerable to buffer overflow attacks, this is still mostly dependent on the software allowing such attacks to be executed.

Furthermore, there are many operating systems already running on Intel PC's that see no viruses. Linux, for example, is a very popular alternative operating system that has seen almost no viruses because it has been designed to be secure, just like Mac OS X.

In short, your Mac will still be a Mac. It's just going to contain components made by a different company."

it is true that apple will be putting more into the media market rather than the computer market. i heard it from mupltiple reliable sources.

I'm saying viruses will begin to be developed against osx since chances are with the switch, the mac market will grow.

im pretty excited for the new macs actually. The new architecture with intel will be easier for programers cause its almost the same as windows, and then more programs! YAY!
