ARe you just going to be watching movies on it?

Any gaming, editing, video work, major programs you will use for your course?

mac no doubt im on my macbookpro right now i love it i will never buy windows again....macs are just amazing...nuff said

my macbook is in the mail this week, can't wait for it to get here.... go with the mac, dell's are pure shit. If you don't want an apple, don't get a dell, they are heaps of shit packaged in a shiney case.

if u get an apple and u get windows on it, does that mean you dont get any of the mac programs with it like imovie and all that

no, you would be installing windows to a seperate part of the ahrd drive, unless you completely erased the OSX part (why in gods name would you even think about that), you would have both.

If you're gonna put windows on your mac then just get a dell. You buy an apple for OS X not for the hardware. You can use Crossover to run windows progrmas in OS X if you really need to run a windows program.

i've never really used an apple so i can't really speak for them but if you're gonna get a pc laptop get a toshiba or an ibm or something other than a dell

apple is only good for like editing movies and shit and is useless for everything else go for something with windows

Apple is fucking gnar I have one and I have not had any problems with it and they are sick for editing and shit plus... NO viruses and also no system crashing, they are a much smoother computer with less glitches.

if you're gunna be editing films or major art work go with the mac, however if you're going to be writing papers (which you will) and games and pretty much everything else, get a windows based operating system, i recommend HP, but not dell

people who are saying to actually get a dell are stupid..if you prefer windows over osx thats fine..but if you do you should also know that anything made by dell is a heaping pile of shit

well, I liked those commercials with the nerdy guy and the kind of cool looking guy talking about how much better a mac is, but then there was that pc commercial about buisness and that guy went to russia and was all aslkdhkajsdhkajsdf and they thought he could speak russian then he said da because he got microsoft because it's easy.

you're in the wrong market

i love my mac and i got it my freshie year... now going into my senior... the new ones are sick.. get those, i would be soo jealous (they have a camera already into the computer plus bluetooth, microphone, wireless card, etc

idiot!!! you can write papers on office for macs... its discounted for students majorly and sometimes included in the package of your computer... and god help you if you will be stuck in your room playing video games cause boulder is much better than a freaking tv... i haven't had a tv since high school because there is this thing that's much better called THE OUTDOORS!!!

How about: anything but a piece of shit Dell.

I'd say Apple, as my only decision now is whether I go MacBook or MacBook Pro, but if you really don't wanna go there, or really hate OSX, go with a Lenovo Thinkpad or a Sony, or a Toshiba, or even something made by HP/Compaq. But for the love of god and all that is holy (weed, alcohol, pussy, skiing, etc) don't get a dell dude. And if your reason for not going Apple is that you "can't run MS Office", well, uh, hate to tell you this, but MS Office for Mac not only works just as well, but it's got a few cool features you'll never find in Office for pc, like Notebook View in Word, which you'll find absolutely retarded until you use it to take notes in class one day when you're bored.

Ya....sure.

The cheapest apple laptop now available comes with 512 megs of ram and a 1.83 ghz intel Core Duo processor. For $1249 canadian or less. Believe me, I've shopped pretty much everywhere, and it's a fucking deal, especially when you consider the design elements that go into an apple computer that make using it a joy, as opposed to a chore. Things like magsafe, the keyboards, the way everything just works all the time, the intelligent placement of ports, the lack of any superfluous crap that comes on most other computers, the magnetic screen latch, etc. All that, and your computer will spank most, if not all, in its price range.

Basically, if you're looking for a budget laptop, you decision is pretty much made for you, unless you hate OSX.

i wasnt talking bad about apple either, really for 1249 cad, does that come with like a 30 gig hard drive or can you get a good sized one for that cheap?

Saying that doing "art" is better on Macs is just a myth.

That being said, OSX is way nicer to use than XP.

I would say...

If you have lots of money, get an apple, if you don't, get an XP machine (not a dell though).

ok, i just ordered the black mac book with a 120 gig hard drive and 1 gig of ram today. do not buy a dell. dell is in there own special little world when it comes to computers. for some realson they like to make their own parts for computers which makes compatability a bitch, as well as upgrading, i would go into detail, but you wouldnt get it. also, you can take a mac to most any computer store and they will gladly work on it, you take a dell somewhere, they will laugh at you and point you in the direstion of the nearest dell certified tech center (which there are only a few of) or youll be packageing up your lap top and sending it to dell for a few weeks so they can replace there shitty products with more shitty products. i also might add dell youses cut rate components which makes for nightmares with motherboards. i.e. blown capacitors (sp).
