Apple is just one giagantically well executed marketing campaign.

nothing else. if you have ever tried their OS and tried Windows you know just how horrible it is. working on both Macs and PCs the crashing problem is so amazingly bad on Macs. in windows it warns you that its going to crash and you almost always have time to save, but Mac just crashes (sometimes I think out of spite)

also if you have seen their new campaign they resorted to Political Mudslinging. they dont say Macs are good they just say PCs and their users suck

my mental image of Macs as snob little know-it-alls who only recently discovered they can actually click with two buttons and go "woot woot woot" about it, making them run around shouting things like "graphics!" and "moving menus!" and "we are soooo pretty" amoungst a lot of unintelligeble babbles

and dont get me started about Mac fanboys. its just crazy how missinformed they are.

the only advantage to Macs is that their are fewer viruses but virus infections are always the users fault. Macs solved this problem by just taking most of the control away from their users. which most of them dont realize. I personally cant stand working on only an apple. its like if Mac OSX keeps on saying your too stupid to do this, your too stupid to do that so I wont let you do them.

and the new version of Windows (Windows Vista) is prettier, safer, faster, and has more cool features than Mac OSX.
 
im on mac with OS X running microsoft office, and its absolutely flawless. also running on safari for my internet, such a nice combination. recommended.

and sorry to bust your rant, but macs own.
 
just shut up. My mac is awesome. There is reason almost everybody that tries a mac never goes back to PC. Also my computer has never crashed. Unless you play games macs are way better for Editing, Music and just about anything else.
 
everyone i know that has a mac loves it and never says anything bad...all i hear is how much better they r...i tthink u have just run into some bad luck
 
ok I agree. if your going to do basic stuff like browse the internet and use Word then of course your going to be happy with it. I mean most phones today can browse the internet open spread sheets and such. but talk to any video editor who actually does high level stuff they will hate it.

i have an imac and i absolutely loved it.. but right now i want to throw it at a wall. granted, it is 4 years old (i think) and there's a shitload of stuff saved on it.. but it crashes 2-5 times a day. and takes over 10 minutes to start up again. and i know its my fault that i filled it with so much crap but yah..
 
yeah, that happened to my dell too.. it was like 3 years old and it crashed a lot, and was slow.. but like you said it is destined to happen when you've got a lot of files
 
i agree, i hate macs. I used my roomates the other day and it was so slow and so difficult to use. I tried to use excel and it was basically unfunctional. It could only do the basic stuff and couldn't do any of the "cool" stuff that most people dont realize that excel can do.
 
lets look at the facts:

ILM (Industrial lights and magic) use Linux or Windows ILM made all the star wars, all the terminators, all the Harry Potters, Hulk, the 3 Matrixes they are the best in visual effects

PIXAR. Pixar's CEO might sound familiar. Steve Jobs. the CEO and Founder of Apple is also the CEO of PIXAR. yet the first Mac to be used by Pixar was last year. and its not one of the machines they use for the heavy stuff. they only use it for photoshop and lighter apps.
 
All my friends are on super powerful PC's and they still say my computer is way better. Also im not running just basic apps im using final cut, Adobe CS2, Itunes, and safari and im doing just fine. On top of that the End Task thing actually works compared a PC where when you press end task the whole thing shuts down.
 
I use my ibook to process thousands of digital images, averaging 2mb each. It works flawlessly. I edit video IN FUCKING IMOVIE, a default mac program that comes with all there computers and its not half bad. I am upgrading to a powerbook so i can run aperture, an amazing peice of software for photo processing and raw workflows. And so i can learn to use and use Final Cut Pro. Halfway through me writing this the first time, my computer died, proboblly because i havent plugged it in since last night and have been using it all day. Macs are not overated. Actually, they are, thats why 2 of the 2 prep schools i toured had mac labs for video and image prcessing / edditing. Why? Because macs are superior.
 
That made me laugh. And I agree with you BTW. Macs have never done it for me. I think the problem comes when you know too much about computers.
 
i know, thats why i was saying its awsome that the default mac video program still works pretty damn well for basic stuff.
 
This is exactly why apple released boot camp.... Aloowing you to run windows xp on apple computers. You get the best of both worlds.. NOW STOP COMPLAINING!
 
Yup, that's right.

Everyone who uses their computer "properly", doing high level stuff, HATES their mac.

But wait, Shake/Motion have won its users numerous academy awards. Final Cut Pro is an industry standard. Approximately ALL of the action sports movies you watch are made with Macs(Shit, the fucking "powerbook G4 being used" shot is so omnipresent it's now cliche). As are most ads you see, along with most, if not all, of the magazines you read. Most printed materials, in fact. Apple is the standard for graphic designers, magazine people, people in audio/visual, and people who are just fed up with windows sucking dick. I just saw DJ Atrac. He's a five time DMC world champion. He's Kanye West's tour DJ. He's one of the best hip hop DJs on this planet. He has $10 000 worth of Powerbooks onstage with him. Guys like him don't fuck around, don't have the time or patience for computers that don't work, and could get any PC they wanted for free. Yet, they pay for Apple. Ever ask yourself why?

And that link you posted? Thanks, I really like opening WMV files. They're really cool. I love how they take forever to load and never play properly. This one is great, the final 10 seconds just dont' appear. And if I wanna watch it again, I only get the audio. Sick! As opposed to Quicktime files. That work every time, even on my piece of shit windows computer. But shit, quicktime is an Apple product, so I guess you don't use it.

Other than gaming, there's no advantage to owning a PC. None. If gaming is your #1 concern when it comes to owning a computer, you need to get laid. Badly. You obviously have not seen/used the true power of OSX. For those who don't know OSX has the power of Unix under the hood. If you want, your mac is a very powerful machine ,i.e, use the terminal. At the terminal you can use imo, the most powerful tool in computing the command line. Plus with things like darwinports and the fink project you have a lot of the programs that unix/linux users have and macs can even run X11 (if you know what that is) to help make running linux and unix apps even easier.

Also, if I remember correctly, when you try to do somethings in XP there is initially a warning that says 'this contains files critical to your system, ....' and tells you that you shouldn't have to go in there.
 
cmon man, macs own....

and you CAN do whatever you want with a mac, it just takes a little more time and work...that's why there arent that many viruses for macs:they"re harder to make

and about the whole crashing thing, i've had macs since i was born and i can easilly tell they dont crash often, just learn how to use em properly and theyll be fucking cool to work with

to brief, in my opinion.....

Incorrect. You know why? because I save a $hit-load of cash and have more control over my machine. You see, I can build a computer form scratch. In fact, I built the desktop I'm on right now. You can build a mega-machine that makes any brand packaged comp (Apple or PC) look like crap and you save hundreds of dollars because you don't pay bullshit markups that companies like Apple, Dell, and HP push on you.

It will also shock you that I don't "game" that much. I do, however, work for three web sites, program, and use digital editing.

And Mac compatible products are not industry standard because they are necessarily better. They are industry standers because they are more redaly available because the board members at Apple are smart enough to choose careful product placement. Read up on the subject. It's exactly why the Microsoft Office program package dominates the industry.
 
wow dude thats some false info final cut pro can only work on macs and is the best video editing program studio there is on the market and high end movies use that shit to edit so what are u talking about
 
*thats was for the original machine. The startup cost. I didn't include upgrades. I first built it 4 years ago.
 
ok guys nevermind. this thread could last forever. I dont know much about audio programs. but visual as far as the visual department goes they are horrible.

when I say High level programs you guys say itunes, Final Cut Pro, and photoshop. those yes are tools that you can use to make money (not itunes) but they are pretty low level pro programs, photoshop does crash all the time when doing heavy work. a fashion photographer I assit ocasionally used a powerbook and now has switched over to the Macbook pro. it crashes all the time. and yes he is editing pics that are sometimes over 70 megs but still.

Macs have never had any proffessional level graphics card available which stops it from being used in high end graphics and in CAD

but anyways I just made this thread because I got really anoyed. I use Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX and the commercials that apple is running are so full of shit its not even funny. Also what drove me over the edge was a kid telling me that macs were better when he hadnt tried windows. thirdly ive been kind of pissed off in general lately because My motherboard on my PC got fried and I havnt been able to get any work done on a 3d project I have been working on (If I can get it finished itll be huge for Newschoolers)
 
wow wow wow lets not get carried away.

Final Cut Pro is great and fun, and you can make great home movies or even buisness movies

but the standard is still Avid and Avid although will run fine on a Mac is more stable on Linux which is why if your editing for big budget movies your on an Avid System
 
.. i'm kinda with you on that. I played around with a ibook g4. It was actually pretty slick. games, no problem. Plus, it was so simple to make custom scripts and had all the capabilities of any linux/bsd distro.

In terms of laptops - ignoring the price - it's a nobrainer. for anyone. but it's was so expensive.
 
I'm not even going to get started on this subject but I have one thing to say. Macs suck balls and I have so many reasons. Sometime I might list them but tonight is not the night.
 
there is something seriously wrong here. if people learn how to protect there computers this would not be a problem.
 
most people dont take care of there computers. Have virus scans, clean up there computer once in a while... they just leave everything.
 
i hope that by posting all of these the people of ns can finally smart up and see that apples and pcs have there pros and cons. when one compares a apple to a pc it doesnt make any sense. for the most part the os doesnt matter. its the hardwear inside the computer. for example, your 64 mb, 2.2 harddrive, intigrated graphics card, with a pentium 2 of course is not going to compare with a new apple. the same thing applys for apples.

so can these useless threads please end.
 
i really like mac (im actually thinking of getting a mac), but schools use macs because they can get really good deals off of them and they barely get any viruses.
 
you are such a dolt, both poor boys and thoery 3 meida use macs, i don't knwo about other companies but i knwo they both use them for sure. your just some idiot who doens't know how to use a mac, just the same as idiots who don't know how to use pc's. get your shit right beofre you start bitching about crap.
 
ive got a mac and a pc and for editint i could never use a pc, firstly look at the integration and flow of final cut studio, that is reason alone to get a mac, also on a pc u dont get that type of workflow even in premiere,
