APPLE Macbook Pro Update: February 24th

lightpeak is to young to be a worth while addition to the macbook pros. How ever, maybe it will actually take off unlike esata

either way, i'll be picking up a full spec macbook air this sumer over the new pros. For the price of the pros, get a used mac pro

damn, if thats acually what they are going t look like, i would be so down to have one. best looking laptop ive ever seen.

I hated Macs before I used one daily in a high school class, but I was just being an ignorant asshole the whole time. It took me a few weeks, but there are several things I like about Mac and OSX that I fucking hate about Windows (and vice versa). Now I use both daily for work/hobbys.
When it comes down to it, if you have the money for it then pick what you want. Both platforms are good in different ways.

YESSSSSS i am so fucking glad i held off on buying one. BIG THANKS to whoever it was on here that advised me to do so!

and also big thanks to OP, can't fucking WAIT to get this shit

This is surprisingly accurate. The Computer Science department at my school was where I went when I was looking for advice on a new computer. After talking to a bunch of guys with PHD's in every computer related thing I can think of, they actually recommended me a Mac for the preferences I gave them and the budget I had. They study both platforms up there along with Linux and such, another thing I didn't know before I visited. I was surprised to say the least (since every computer tech I've ever met has been an asshole about why I'm a moron for even considering both), but I'm happy with my PC and my Mac.

I spent less than $1500 on my current setup. The closest equivalent Mac (which wasn't even possible when I built it) was over $3500. I fail to see the benefit in dropping an addition 2 grand on something inferior. Now I'm considering building another computer with an i7-990 (or maybe a 12 core build) and still have it be well over 4 digits less than a Mac. Same type of performance/price disparity is applicable to laptops.

not really.. new faster processors, possible reasonably priced SSDs, more high res screens (and matte screen is back maybe? nice), lighter/thinner, all for cheaper? yes please

Thanks for the update, I was wondering the same.
I haven't owned another computer that last as long as my Mac does. My Fujitsu laptop has 2 in it right now and the longest I've gotten out of it was about 4-5 hours of light use. I assume there has to be a company that makes computers with comparable battery life out there somewhere, any tips?

Cause 1200 by 800 on the 13 inch IS SO HIGH RESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. AND 1440 by 900 IS AMAZING HIGH RESSSSSS OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG GET ONE NOW

good thing you cut out my post so it didnt show the "MORE high res screen," as in, it's a highER resolution screen than the predecessor. you guys are so weird, why do you give a shit what laptop i use? come to my work and tell me i should use PCs ya nerd

nice man, you really got me. it's called a colloquialism and you know exactly what i meant. now why don't you run back to 4chan or runescape or whatever you guys do during sunlight hours?

I'm still a bit disappointed that the 15-inch didn't come down, but I think Apple's intention was to split the market a bit more.

One of my main concerns with the 13-inch before was that it was missing the firewire port I wanted to import footage/connect to externals with, and now that's back on there and instead they got rid of the audio-in port which honestly I don't think anyone going for the 13 would use.

I was also a bit disappointed about the integrated graphics/memory issue, but I've reconsidered it and although I do do graphic work and some photo/video production I'm not doing them at the level that would require HD capabilities or lightening quick processing speeds, so I'm thinking I'll be fine with the 13.

Too bad I'll still have problems running COD4 though, I was looking forward to that haha.

i have a macbook, and a windows PC, along with a windows gaming rig. i would never buy a desktop mac, solely because i built the pc myself, and macs lack upgrades and are highly overpriced. but in terms of laptops, you really can't beat a macbook when you aren't trying to play computer games. for school, a macbook is incredible. battery life, light, etc. i dare you to find a nicer trackpad than the one on a macbook. you never need to use a mouse on these things. just an overall nice package in a laptop form. sure, it may be slightly overpriced, but the features justify the price.

Why do people hate on Mac and they probably hate on them because they will never be able to afford them so they bitch how sucky they are. The new MacBook Pro is sick and I'm jealous now.

It's because they're rediculously overpriced for something slightly cooler. It's double the price of any other computer with the same specs. I could see if you're really into hard core music or movie stuff it would be worth it. But I don't understand why the os is better than windows in other ways, the screen corner things are really annoying cause I do it by accident a lot. The only good thing is the metal case and glass screen on the new macbooks. I also think the mac track pad is just stupid, the old ones you couldn't tap to click and the new ones don't click in certain spots. How is two buttons or tap to click and right side to scroll hard to use?

if you were event remotely knowledgeable about apple, you would know that the march 2nd event is dedicated for the ipad 2 exclusively

just got a 27 inch imac, might have to get one of these to go with it if i get a good job this summer.

I've been using a pc all my life and i figured i'd try out mac so i got the imac 27 inch and heres what i have concluded after 2 months of use.
- PC is a lot better for customization and variety in terms of what software is available.- PC is a lot cheaper- PC gives you a better bang for your buck in terms of hardware.- PC is def better for gaming
- People don't spend money on mac for the hardware, they spend it for the user friendliness.- In general people are fucking dumb, a PC can be excellent if you know how to work it. If you're a n00b, its only a matter of time til you get all sorts of crap on it and it slows down and gets all shitty.- Forking out crazy cash for gaming is dumb, by an xbox, its 95% just as good. If world of warcraft is worth that much money to you, you should probably see a councilor.- If you really want PC for this or that, boot camp works well so you can run windows on your mac.- All in all that mas os seems to blow windows out of the water so far, things just seem to be so much more logical and efficient on it.
- So yea i think people by macs because they don't tend to have as many issues as PCs. Although PC issues may be something as stupid as reinstalling a network driver or not having good antivirus installed people will make these mistakes and me either too stupid or not have the time to diddle daddle and fix them.

I use a mac for the software, id be stoked to build my own computer and spend 1/2 as much but thats not really an option without using shitty ass windows based programs and operating systems. Mac OS is the fucking tits, windows can blow my taint.

How would one go about doing this?

Would they just like....softly breathe on it? Or heavily blow on it? I feel like it would give a cooling sensation...very soothing. Do want.
