Its a great choice for editing. It has plenty of speed but if you plan on doing lots of rendering you may want a more powerful mac.

SMILE, its the second best thing you can do with ur mouth

i got a ibook g3

few years old but throw a 512mb chip in er and she rips.

macs are the way to go for pretty much anything right now

if you're going to be taking lots of digital photos but not doing much editing to them..i'd go with an ibook with a large hard drive..but if you're going to be doing serious editing with them i'd go with a powerbook, but an ibook will definitely get the job done..either way bump your memory (RAM) up to 512mb, and your hard drive up to at least 40GB, if not 60Gb or larger..if you have any other questions feel free to PM me i'm the campus rep for Apple at Kent State

I'm on my 2nd iBook. I would definately recommend it. I'm actually into Photography as well. I did months of deciding between p'book and iBook, the iBook is the way to go. Buy it first, get used to it, and if you think you need more, sell it, their resale is incredible. I had my first one for a year, and sold it a year later, for $50 more than I bought it! Now I'm on a new G4 and it has plenty of power. Never had to wait for it. I take it everywhere. They also have the best wireless range, battery life, and are really durable. I've dropped mine without any damage. You think you won't drop a laptop, but believe me, it happens. Unless it just sits at your desk all the time, then you shouldn't be buying a laptop.

What's a good starter film SLR? Would you recommend Canon or Nikon? Everyone has a different opinion. I'm leaning towards a Rebel T2. That's what many professors told me is good for school. Anymore questions? Ask.

If you get an ibook make sure it is a G4 ibook and not a G3. The difference is the type of processor.

G3s are really really old... like old pentium era. apple still sells them cauz they are cheap and easy on battery but they suck. The G4s are also really outdated (they are 5 years old!) but they are much better than the G3s.

Message me if you wana know more.

First of all... you can't buy a G3 from Apple anymore. They are completely out of production. The G4 is a highly capable processor for the average user, you do't really need a G5 unless you are a professional video maker, desinger, or a hard core gamer with a lot of $. If you plan on holding out for a G5 laptop, plan on waiting for awhile. Macrumors.com

Well if you can't get the G3 you are stuck with the G4 since the G5 is still too power hungry for laptops. Soon...

the biggest problem with the idea of a Powerbook G5 isn't the power but rather the cooling, the processor gets so warm that they haven't come up with a good solution of keeping it cool while still in a thin package
