Apparently theres an active shooter in a mall in NJ

This is a massive tragedy... it is now reported that the gunman took out 4-8 security cameras and a few windows before killing himself.

When will we learn?

I was there 45 minutes before that happened. Just kinda made me think about how (relatively) close I was to seeing all that, first person.

Shit like this pisses me off. Nobody here really cares about what's going on in the middle east because it probably doesn't affect them. People in the US care about what happens in this country.

or maybe not, and we can all accept the fact that there are people doing this stuff all over the world and stop sounding like little bitches about how every time you hear about a shooting you feel sick to you stomach?

Im mostly conservative, but guns could be the reason why drug dealers are so violent in america compared to the relatively gun free societies in europe. Another possible cause for all the gun violence seen in the drug culture of america could be down to the violent tendencies of poor minorities in america. Some people dont value life as much as others do, which is one of the reasons you see the violence commited by the cartels as an example. This may also be true for poor societies in america which have "nothing to lose" for example. The problem of violence in poor communities in america may be due to one or more of these 3 factors; gun availability, natural inclination towards violence, or low valuation of life.

just because things like this may be happening around the world in no way justifies blowing it off like nothing. this is a serious problem and honestly its fucked up how common things like this are becoming in america. just because something this awful is somewhat of a common occurance around the world doesn't mean we should ignore it or react less when they happen, it should be a means for action and change.

its not a serious problem, genocide is a serious problem, malaria is a serious problems, AIDS is a serious problem, petty shootings are not a serious problem around the world.

I agree, all those are serious problems, but so are these shootings. The fact that genocide and AIDS are more extreme than public shootings doesn't mean they do not deserve a course of action and serious efforts made to prevent these things from happening. Although in terms of genocide and AIDS these mall, theater and airport shootings may not scale up to those major issues, but that doesn't mean that we are not dealing with a serious problem.

An estimated 15,529 people with an AIDS diagnosis died in 2010

In 2008, Max Fisher of the Atlantic reports, about 12,000 Americans were killed with guns.

Why don't you pray to your all powerful god, to make all the aids go away and help the children in Africa, I'll be praying you stay the fuck out of this thread.

its not that big of a deal though, trying to stop shootings is like trying to stop people from smoking weed. its such a widely used thing that we might as well just legalize it everywhere.

So by your logic they are both a big deal they bot kill around the same amount of people a year. By your logic we should just sit back and let shootings happen because it happens a lot? You really think nothing could be done about it, I'm am now starting to see why you believe the things you do.

Easy to say when you're not staring down the barrel of a rifle being wielded by someone bent on murder and mindless slaughter.

even this Chinese guy is laughing at your grammar

You can try you can make guns kill people, people don't kill people commercials up. Its not gonna change jack shit until the mentality of the American people change.

So then why do you even bother bringing up the middle east? Is that just your go to? Do you just want to sound like you're up to speed on world affairs?

Until the mentality of the American people change? Your mentality of the fucking legalization of public shootings is not helping hahaha I mean damn, how fucking obvious is it that public shootings are am awful thing and your here trying justify them?

Well, I know for a fact you do not have a Glock under your jacket, unless you are carrying it illegally, because you need to be 21 to obtain a CPL in Minnesota. In Montana, where I believe you are a freshman in college, you need to have been a resident of the state for at least 6 months and have a valid Montana ID. I sincerely doubt you meet either of these qualifications. I also doubt with 99% certainty you carry a shotgun in your car. Not sure on the laws there, but I know keeping a loaded long gun in your vehicle is illegal in a lot of places. 'Murica, huh?

I'm all for legal guns but why don't we just do extremely stricts background checks on them. It's kind of pathetic how easy it is to get one

As a gun owner, I agree with this. I wouldn't even mind a small waiting period, though I do think that would destroy the gun show market.

I feel like everyone missed this. Unless it's a joke and my meter is broken. Idk though, he just might be that retarded.

Because its a common place that has problem and believe I to not effects the American populace a lot more than a shooting in NJ. Also terrorists.

Roddy is the epitome of a republican zombie. Has no clue what he's talking about but will defend it till his death

well i understand if your stupidity precedes you, but that is a true fact all the way. Sorry that I'm a conservative with no soul, but that doesn't make anyone have a lower IQ.

I wouldn't say republican zombie, I'd say political extremist. There are democrats who are just as extreme, and stupid because they are so blinded by wanting their side to be right they don't care about facts. Kind of like how religious people people are blinded to science and logic.

But the way he comes off in this thread is almost like his parents sit him down in front of Fox News and leave him there for the rest of the day. In one of his posts he didn't know how to argue so he just said "and terrorists" and ended it there

Yeah his parents probably tell him how hard their lives are now that Obama is in office, I wouldn't be surprised if he thought the shut down was also Obama's fault. he's clearly never stepped back and look and it from both sides.

Fuck no.

The problem with super strict background checks is that most of the time it's just going to inconvenience the average law abiding gun owner. A criminal, knowing he will fail a background check, is just going to either buy it illegally or purchase it through means where a background check isn't required. Somebody who's going to commit murder with a firearm isn't going to care he's breaking the law getting it because he's already set on murdering someone which, last time I checked, is against the law here.

sad stuff, looks like the kid didn't even have any intention of hurting anybody. went in, fired a few shots, found a secluded area out of public view and killed himself.

scary, but just plain sad. 20 years old, and he ended his life.

But what if the criminal isn't set on murdering just one person but multiple. Would it not be harder for him to do if he had to reload much more often?
