Apology to kid at Sugarloaf

There are a bunch of cool kids at CVA, i have a few friends there and they're all insanely chill and nice. but there's also a few total chodes that give it a bad name

Big ups OP. Coming from a guy whose season recently ended from clipping a dude who cut under the knuckle, I can appreciate this thread.

Ski up to a suspected NS'er and ask: "Hey! Do you know how to get to Chad's gap from the bottom of Alta?" If he says that ski patrol blew it up, you just became best friends.

I think I need to learn this. I jumped over this blind roller and narrowly missed someone on the back side. I could have kept going but I stopped and apologized profusely, saying I'll be more careful in the future. The guy kept yelling at me, saying how careless I was and that we could have died or something, and I just kept saying sorry. After a full minute of him yelling and me apologizing, I just skied away because it didn't seem like the guy would ever tire of berating me

The guy didnt have to be a prick about it if you apologized, like the other day me and my friend were biking past the skate park and my friend droped in on his dirt jumper and one of the skateboarder guys kindly asked him not to do that because there could have been rocks stuck in his treads and then the sklateboarders wouldve eaten shit. since he was so nice about it it makes us not wanna do it again

he deserves a trial before we boot him from the community, this thread is doing well.

I think it's time for official judges, because skiing is really serious now : /

Since we're talking Sugarloaf, met a nice kid named Nick up there a few weeks ago. Super chill and was stoked.

I have met like 2 or 3 kids that are chill. But yes there are some that are fucking douchers. They think they are better then any person on the mountain and they can do whatever they want. The SCVA kids are chill tho

A gaper has no clue when they do something stupid. Everyone ends up in a bad place in the park at some point. It was way cool of you to apologize. You are no gaper.

CVA kids do fucking suck. They poach on the top of the haywire jumps, and judge the shit out of anything you throw. The nicest kids I meet up there are from out of state.

As a guy who has gotten to know some of the CVA kids through filming them, i have to say this story is pretty hard to believe for me. Im not saying it didn't happen, but I've gotten to be pretty good friends with a couple of the CVA kids this year and for the most part they are some pretty chill dudes. Haven't seen much of a snobby side to any of the ones I've gotten to be friends with.

yeah i had a similar experience with a park crew guy at waterville. i fell on the first jump and hiked up to almost the top of the null, looked up hill and saw no one going so i dropped not realizing the guy had literally just hit the jump, and he must have had a quiet ass landing because i didnt hear him or see him until after i hit the jump and he stopped on the lip. he came down and called me a "fucking retarded ass gaper." I felt like a dumb fuck but it made me feel better that the guy was a complete doucher about it

ya there are never any newschoolers callouts at sugarbush either...

because everybody knows everybody by name and family emblem.

i can attest that luke brown and keegan kilbride are both very down to earth and chill. Sometimes the CVA kids get a bad name. To some of them id agree but someone isnt a douche because there from CVA. There are douches everywhere... it just makes it easy to target that group when some of them act foolish.

Hahah dude you told me about this right after it happened cuz I didn't see it! It's all good man. Super rating on the thread btw

can we talk about how many nicks there are at the loaf???

OP props to you for apologizing. anyone who gets mad about this should calm the fuck down. if everyone was fine, they can get over it.

I still remember I tried to call you out like 2 years ago at A Bay but you were too far and didnt hear me :(.

the loaf is pretty chill. I don't get to spend as much time there as I used to but everyone in the park is usually pretty cool and everyone is stoked all over the mountain. I don't know any CVA kids currently but over the years I've known a few and I'm still pretty good friends with some of them.

Seriously! nick tenney filmed an edit with nick rosenberger and then these other nicks in the thread. @Duncan you find your nick yet? Haha

nailed it! big ups to the OP apologizing, admitted you were wrong its the only thing you can do in that situation

Ask if they know how to get to chads from the bottom of alta and if they say patrol blew it up then you have successfully completed the ns callout

What the fuck happened to newschoolers. I saw this thread on the home page and realized it was a serious situation that I and I'm sure many other people have been involved with. Gapers and beginners exist all over the mountain whether they are trying to progress their skills or just support our ski bum lives. This beginner clearly realized his bad and let other people know/learn from his own personal experience in what shout be a constructive forum. I have skied park for 15 years but I have still made the mistake of not looking at my entire surroundings before checking out an injured friend in the landing. These things happen and the most constructive way to deal with them is by calmly explaining your perspective of the situation. If people clearly don't want to listen to your input then inform your local park crew and maybe they can start clipping passes from people who are not safe being in the park.

I know newschoolers threads have been full of crap for a while but all you 12 years olds please read the real content of the threads that you are about to post on before you post your thoughtless garbage. Look on any other website and the top 50 responses to an article are not "sickkk" or any other useless crap like that.

Remembering when you knew every person who rode twin tips at your mountain and could easily tell who they where on newschoolers.

Great addition to NS, Bro! You must be so rad man. You know the exact right way to go through life and what online forums should look like!! I wish I had your knowledge! Especially on how people should act and live their lives..

With more post from your view, maybe we'll adapt YOUR perspective and live like little k2skills drones. I mean, you have been riding park for 15 years!!

This interaction makes me die a little bit inside.

In the old days, if you simply saw someone wearing twin tips you would ski up to them and immediately start lapping together. If someone was down with the cause they were immediately friends.

Hell that is the fundamental reason that Newschoolers works so well - we all have a common and insanely strong bond for the sport that we are so passionate about.

I think that every time two NSer looking folk are together, they should immediately start talking. Whether you use the callout or just shoot a quick 'whats up' - its a crying shame to not even interact.

We have failed miserably as a community if we can not make real-life connections out of it!

I can't tell you how many friends I've made at my local mountains from newschoolers. Always comes in handy when I'm lapping alone.

That is actually how I met the entire staff of NS.

I feel like we need to do a better job of helping people do just this.

Ideas?

Everytime I've gone to a mountain alone And more than once when I've gone with friends I have met new people and lapped with them all day. People just need to be more outgoing.

The fact that you posted a thread to apologize to this Kid who clearly overreacted big time is enough proof that you're a standup guy who made a mistake that we've all probably made at one point. Props for taking the high road despite that kid reacting so unnecessarily.

Duncan, I was in line at the Superquad. Nick asked about Junction 133. Got me so stoked.

Agreed about what Bishop was saying though! Where's the love? I always loved lapping the park with random people you'd meet with twins. Met so many cool people that way, many of them I've known for over a decade and still stay in touch or see them every now and then. Plenty of them I met through NS as well. Stop trying to be so damn cool and just have fun, get over the ego and ski.
