Hmm well Mel Gibson stigma aside, the movie is... interesting. Ill just keep it vauge, but it is different at times. Some of the time it is very interesting and intense, and at others confusing, at least to me, especially when it came to the humor. Some aspects were out there; i.e. unconventional ways of showing things. It was nice that there wasn't a word of english, so that didnt detract from the movie.

Overall it was pretty good, but I guess it didn't quite meet my expectations. And theres a shitload of gore, too, where it is somewhat akin to Braveheart, except they would show the beheading.

It looks sweet but i cant take it seriously after i saw this

gibson's next film: Saddam, Eastern Terror....

starring Mel Gibson as Saddam Hussein.......

I thought this movie was supposed to come out sometime in december. Am I just wrong or did you get to see a special preview or something?

na its in the teaser for the film, is just a freeze frame that is only shown for one frame of the clip

well shit, after seeing it again, it really solidified in my mind that it is a pretty damn good movie. sure there are some quirks I have with it, but I came to realize that this was pretty unique to big cinema. The acting is solid, the cinematography is superb, the visuals are amazing, etc. Pretty damn nifty.

I hated it.

Hate hate hate.

So many unnessary things. Was there a plot.. besides running away for 2 hours?

So pointless. Go see it, and you'll see what I mean.

im guessing you read that in a movie review before you saw it, and then because your a fucking retard went to the movie so closed minded that this was your only terrible interpretation of the film.

Either that, or the exact opposite. I thought it was going to be great, and didn't read a single review of the movie before hand.

Good luck in life, friend.

For all the negative reviews it's getting on here, it's doing pretty damn well both with critics reviews and with the box office...

I thought it was very well made. Mel Gibson just tends to go overboard with the gore some of the time...

I'm sure it will do great for the first week or two.. But I don't see any reason why someone would want to go back and watch it again and again.

Who knows.

just saw it, pretty disappointed.

i usually love movies like this, nice gory battle scenes and intense storylines, but this was just done all wrong. it had such potential to be a great movie, and it blew it.

the story's good, but things weren't entirely explained all the way through. character's names were only mentioned a few times during the entire movie, and it's never explained what tribes the people are from (assuming Mayan since that is what the synopsis says, but still). the progress of the movie is incredibly slow and redundant. scenes are carried out much longer than they needed to be. in all seriousness, the movie could have been 30 minutes long. i think they tried to make up for the lack of story by throwing in a ton of gore. while i love a gorey movie just as much as any guy, this gore almost gets in the way of the story instead of enhancing it. unnecessary gruesome depictions are scattered throughout the movie that do nothing but distract you from the plot, and just don't need to be there.

on the plus side, it still gives you a good perspective of the Mayan times. there aren't many movies out there with this time and place setting, so it's a nice new take. still entertaining, and worth going to see. but, i would not buy this movie, or see it again.
