yeah the five hour one was pretty good, especially the french plantation scene. But yeah, i personally liked the shorter version better. So many cool scenes!!!

I'd highly recommend reading Heart of Darkness if you want to understand Apocalypse Now better.

also, if you're really into apocalypse now, you should watch 'hearts of darkness'.. it's a documentary about the making of apocalypse now made by the wife of francis ford coppola. it sheds light on many very intriguing facts and insights regarding the movie and the shoot that would otherwise have gone completely unknown.

 
i watched it on fox this past weekend, im sure its not nearly as good as the un edited version, but from what i saw it was a crazy movie
