Apartment in Montreal next fall

Hii!
Im moving next fall to Montreal for my student exchange, and Im looking for a place to live for the fall semester. Does anyone know any good place? It would be cool to know something about the skiing scene in the city and its surroundings :D you can send me email: Kaaos13@hotmail.com.

For skiing near montreal,

North shore : 1- Avila, sick for park skiing, 45-60 min from MTL. 2- St-sauveur : Same mountain as St-sauveur, sick for night skiing and chilling (45-60 min from MTL too duh.) 3- More than an hour from MTL, There is Mont Tremblant, sick mountain but I've never been there, should ask other people about it.

South shore: 1- Mont St-Bruno : 25 minutes drive, normal mountain, nothing big there, but still nice. 2- Orford and Bromont. About an hour driving I think, sick mountains.

And if you want to get some pow and sick tree lines, just get to Jay in Vermont. 2 hour drive. It's sick.

sorry for double post but for the skiing in th city, we are lucky to get IF3 every year here in montreal. It's the international freeski film festival, in september or october i think. It's sick, you can't miss it.

 
if you can, try to get an apartment near a metro. i stay at my brothers place in longueuil sometimes and its sick. 5 minute walk to the terminus and about a 15 minute drive to bruno
 
you can check craigslist and kijiji for lots of ads, as for location I would recommend the plateau area and look for apartments that are close to st. laurent st., as you will quickly learn this is where all the parties are at, around mcgill and concordia there are also lots of decent places, and this is also quite close to lots of sick stuff, most important part would be to live near a metro, but if you get a place near mcgill/concordia, or in the plateau wherever you are there will be a metro within 10 minutes.
 
So far looking reaally good. My semester goes til december so i hope that there will be some snow somewhere to ski already then ! :D but ill probably travel and stay over for a while after. The freeski festival sounds great, ill definitely come check that out . Ill be going to HEC, anyone studying there?
 
ndg is a great alternative to living on the plateau, which can be really outrageously pricey. though rent is kind of going up everywhere. but yeah, i live in ndg, and its a 10 minute bus or metro ride downtown, and 15$ cab rides home, plus there's some night buses.
but, it depends. st laurent and the east is more the club scene, and much more west is a pub/bar scene. but there's great places all over town.
most places to ski are 45 mins-2 hr drives away from the city. there's also mont royal for some urban and a bunch of other locations i likely have no idea about :P
 
DG is definetly convientent for location. Its fairly quiet but at the same time your pretty close to downtown
 
well yeah, exactly. if you live with 2-3 people. but if you look for your own place, the plateau isn't the cheapest. there are rare finds though when people move out who've been living there forever.
 
Thanks alot guys! I dont really mind living a bit further away from the center as long as there are nice cafes, stores, bars ect. near by :)) I dont think i really wanna live by the campus. Hows the winter been there? lots of snow?
 
In my opinion, one of the worst yet in my years skiing... Seriously not much snow, no big pow days ( there were some i know. but the biggest dump was heavy snow. ) 09-10 winter in amount of snow days suck IMO
 
whoa, weird winter! In finland its been like the best one since the 80s or something hahah.. and still not over at all .
 
this has been one of our worst winters in decades... hopefully it smartens up for next year so you have a good experience here!
