AP vs Honors vs CP

Im doing a project for a class about AP, Honors and CP classes. What does your school have? what do you take? do you like what you take?
 
i've taken all of them. any cp classes i was in was simply to fill credits to graduate. most of the kids in them definitely wouldn't do well in honors or ap. i liked honors classes. they had a good pace and i wasn't surrounded by complete tards. ap classes were good but i'm lazy as shit so i didn't do the work i was supposed to but nothing was that difficult. i wish i had taken ap calc though.
 
So I go to a private which is quite a bit different than a public school as to how classes work.

With the exception of some math courses all classes at my school are either CP, H or AP. Some math classes have idiot versions if youre too stupid to solve for X.

So anyone can take CP. To take honors one must have at least a 85(might be 90)% average in college prep for the year. For AP, one must have an A- or better in CP or a B+ or better in honors. Students are signed in with teacher discretion as well so you cant just take a class to take it.
 
Im assuming CP are college prep classes? Our HS offers CHS (college in high school) classes that are taught by sponsored teachers by the local community college. In my experience, honors is just a normal class, cause in my school honors is still slightly challenging depending on the teacher but regular classes basically are retard camps. AP classes are what I felt as a mixture of honors classes with CHS classes. High workload, and in my opinion, completely uneccessary unless its a class you like. Especially if you dont take or do well on the national exam. CHS classes are my favorite. Sit there, listen to the lectures, have random quizes and study on your own. This is where studying is actually needed as opposed to the other classes.
 
Our school has all 3, but I mainly take AP and Honors courses. AP are obviously the hardest, and I tend to enjoy them less than honors classes. I think this is because AP classes focus on preparing you for a test rather than actually teaching you useful things. Honors classes at my school are pretty much just to prepare you for AP classes later on.
 
I do the International Baccalaureate program (IB) and its like all AP classes and 3 harder classes. with some colleges it actually counts as your freshman year of college and most colleges give you college credit for the classes. it really really sucks

 
My school has all three, and I am in all of them. In order to take AP"s you must take the honors prerequisite course, and CP's are open to anyone. I take AP's of classes i am really interested in like most of the sciences, stick to honors math, and for classes I really don't care about but need to take in order to graduate i take the CP versions like english.
 
Wtf is CP?

Honors classes are jokes, absolutely anyone can take them.

AP classes have a tough workload but the exams are a joke, most people can take them and pass the proficiency bar if the teacher knows what they're doing.

Overall: American high schools are easy as fuck
 
So for Freshmen and Sophomores at my school you can take CP (Easiest), CCP (Medium), and Honors (Hardest).

Basically CP are for the bottom of the barrel kids who are just about total burnouts headed towards community college.

CCP is a little bit harder and hosts the normal kids who aren't retarded, but also not geniuses.

Honors is the top of the line and has been bumped up a level this year to be somewhat more thought provoking, as opposed to the lower level classes where you simply learn the information and move on.

Once you're a Junior or Senior, Honors gets thrown out and changes to AP. Basically the same layout, but obviously AP will be more difficult than Honors was.

Unfortunately this system was basically just implemented because our student:teacher ratio was thrown off due to budget cuts. The higher level classes got harder and the lower levels got easier. We used to use a L1, L2, L3, and L4 system, but they switched it up and fucked over the students.
 
IB is by far the most difficult. Did an honors classes in an IB program freshmen year, and my 4 AP class load junior year was still easier.
 
I've taken 4 Honors Classes Sophmore and Freshman Year, taking 3 Honors, an AP, and a CP (Assuming this means standard) class next year.
 
Honors is simply a faster paced on level class and it will go more into detail, an AP class is a college level class. So in order to get hours for that class in college you have to get a 3,4, or 5 on the exam. So if i were you take the maximum amount of APs that you could handle so you could go to college with one semester already done or even a years worth of hours. Honors looks good on college applications but there are no true benefits from it.
 
My school didn't have any of that really. The only AP class was AP calc which, because we weren't on a semester program, you had to take math in summer school to be allowed to take.
 
My school has both DE (dual enrollment) which gets you college credit without having to take AP tests, and AP, which you have to do all that bullshit
 
I've taken AP and honors, I have no idea what CP means. My school basically puts "honors" in front of a course name just to make it look better, but in fact is usually the same workload as all the other normal courses. Ap however has a much harder curriculum and obviously the whole college credit
 
I did IB. It was a lot of work, just as much work as if not more than university. It will pay off though, I ended up with staring university of 30 credits toward my degree.
