my mom and dad both taught ap art. i think the only thing thats hard about it is coming out with enough pieces that all fit in with your concentration. finding a good concentration is real important. then just go with that.

It takes the fun out of it, seriously don't take it. I loved art and still do, but that class made art a pain instead of enjoyment.

We have an old saying down on the bayou....Blehhhhh!!!

i took ap art last year, first semester I concentrated mostly on calligraphy and commercial lettering. i advise you don't do as I did. it sucks.

Killy nailed it. If you want to succeed spend alot of time thinking about and designing your focus. Think about what you want to learn, what you're good at, what subjects, what styles. Just think broad and narrow your focus down. Once you have a good focus it makes life easier. Its worth it though, you'll learn alot.

I'm taking IB art (same thing as AP) and I love it. We don't have to do much more research crap, and the main difference is that we get more funding, and basically just do whatever we want without a lot of restrictions, so I guess it depends on the school.

^yea, this class is tough, way harder than any other AP class i've taken. we have to do a project a week and they aren't just whatever we want, there are big requirements, and journals/diaries...it's gonna be tough :-p

ya, for our class we have to keep a 'research workbook' so we have to plan out every piece we do, and write out exactly what we're thinking durring every stage of the planning process. plus we have to write a critique after every assignment, go to art shows and critique different pieces there. its a lot of work, but for the most part its interesting, so it's worth it for me.
