question.

my local MTN, butternut, generally doesnt have any big booters. ive spoken to them about and basically what they tell me is they dont have enough snow to make large jumps, what im wondering is why don't they excavate it and build them out of dirt in the summertime and then just build onto them in the wintertime?

im going to ask them when i head up this year, but i was wondering if anyone has any info on the subject. pace.

haha butternut is pretty brutal its fun though the one time i went there but yeah. we have big jumps but its also nice when the terrain helps you butternut is kinda flat.

i ski at butternut on the occasion and i would say that yes normlaly they dont have enough snow to make a big booter till late season idk how big ur talkin like 40+...but the trails way to small not enough room. also whoever builds and puts the features out sucks horribly at doing it they are terribly constructed, last year they crammed liie a million things onto 1 small ass run. if butternut just chilled out this year and made less jumps that were better and put there rails in a line that made more sense it would be 10x better and would even consider going there on a day off from school or something.

I hear you guys. it's really hard to beat a 230.00 season pass that that gives me 1/2 price tickets at jay, okemo and a buncha other places. I think they should move the terrain park to the slope all the way on the left (facing the mountain ) way more room over there.

you probably dont want to make them out of dirt. it gives you no options for pushing snow around later.its gonna be even worse when the snow starts to melt and you have to land on dirt because instead of a 40 ft landing melting, its only like 16 in on top of the dirt.

you really think a resort that only charges 230 for a season pass has the budget to build dirt jumps??? especially with jiminy not far away with a much better terrain park program. I don't mean to put you down, but I'm pretty sure they will laugh at you with that question in the current economy, if there's anything happening to their terrain park it's probably getting smaller

DON'T DO THAT!!!!!! If your really interested in trying to make your park better try and get in contact with the park manager.

^no worries man, I think most of us on the east coast wish our local mountain would put more effort into their terrain parks, but the sad truth is that most of them either don't care enough or don't have the $ to improve a portion of their terrain that isn't going to add anything to their revenue (i.e. us park rats don't usually spend much at the mountain)

i would still encourage you to talk with the park manager and see if there is anything you could do to help. maybe another set of hands is all they need. chances are the guy who makes the park is just another groomer and could highly benefit from some feedback from someone who actually rides park. theres no harm in trying anyways.

sundown is pretty sick fluff, I usually hit it up late season when they're discounted coupons on ebay. season pass there is ilke 600 bucks or soemthing. i wish i was cheaper cause i'd totally go there instead.

jiminy peak park blows. not to mention on weekday you have about a fifteen mile flat area you have to hike/push through. no thanks.
