This contest has been organized to promote a better understanding, both at home and abroad, of the Republic of China on Taiwan, its spirit and actions in reaching out to the world, and of the conceptual underpinnings of President Chen Shui-bian's promotion of human rights, volunteerism, and the responsibilities of members of the world community. The theme is 'A good neighbor: Taiwan in the global village.'

XI. Prizes

Chinese-language Web site competition

First Prize: NT$60,000

Second Prize: NT$30,000

Third Prize: NT$10,000

All of the above prizewinners will also receive a set of commemorative Taipei MRT tickets.

English-language Web site competition

First Prize: US$1,500; two roundtrip, economy-class tickets to Taiwan; and a seven-day, six-night hotel accommodations

Second Prize: US$1,000

Third Prize: US$500
