But yeah, that's him. He sucks at getting things fixed, and he kicks out people for fucked up reasons. If you live in the Scummits, it's inevitable that at least a few of your friends will be kicked out over the duration of the time you're living there. When I left, they charged me a $170 cleaning fee, even though I cleaned the crap out of that place and the previous one I lived in (I lived in two different apartments in the Scummits) because they were DISGUSTING when I moved in. I scrubbed the kitchens so that they were spotless because when I moved in, they were filthy and had mold and shit growing everywhere.
THEN, in the second place I lived in, the battery for the smoke alarm was dying in one of the four rooms in the quad I lived in. I asked them MANY times to replace it (since we could get charged for tampering with a smoke alarm), and they sent someone in, but it never was replaced. See the thing was, when the battery was low, the smoke alarms in all four rooms would beep beep beep every ten seconds or so, and this went on for weeks. After having asked them at least ten or so times, I finally just took off the smoke detector and then replaced it when I moved out. They ended up charging me a $250 fee for "tampering with a smoke detector". I never got my deposit back AND they charged me additional money and never notified me of this in any way.
Over a year later, my mom got a call IN ALASKA from a collections agency in Portland saying that I owed money and that I had put my mom as a reference. I was living in Canada at the time and would call my parents once every couple of weeks because I didn't have a cell phone. With the collection agency fee added on to what Jigga Tay said I owed (those charges I mentioned), I ended up having to shell out over $500 ON TOP OF not getting my fucking damage deposit back, when I was the one who cleaned those damn apartments until they were spotless!
Yeah, not too stoked on that place. Good luck, Drew. If the guy who created this thread is legit and you end up figuring out people to house with, I'd go for it.
