Its getting bigger but still not as big as snowboarding. When I'm in the park in Mammoth it would say its about 70% boarders 30% skiers, of course Mammoth is a boarder town. This season I actually came back to skiing (skied from age 4-12 then started snowboarding) and I have no idea why I stopped to begin with. When I watch ski vids it just seems so much more fluent and smooth. The tricks don't look forced just effortless. Funny thing though is I snowboard for 14 years and then come back to skiing and break my first bone hahahaha. But it was worth it and don't see myself going back to snowboarding. Also, its funny about the whole people think everyone snowboards thing. You have no idea how many times when I was in the hospital with my busted leg I had to explain to people that it was from skiing not snowboarding. I would say "yeah I overshot a ski jump" to which they replied "were you snowboarding?" and I would say "ummm no, I was skiing, hence overshooting a ski jump". Anyways, long rant, but I feel its getting bigger which is good, as long as the tarded posers stay out of the park. Overall, I still love that it is cooler to ski because it is viewed as uncool and people don't expect to see someone between 10-28 years of age skiing.
Bottomline: Skiing kicks ass!
