so my parents just built a house 1/2 mile from the beach at myrtle and its done. im going to be spending a few weeks there this summer, and all summer next year to work and live there. so what i need to know is what size short board (im 6'0" 160lbs) would best suit the surf at myrtle. i also spend 2 weeks in bethany DE each summer with other family in a rent house and would like to surf there. i have surfed before on a 7' board borrowed from a cousin which was awesome, and on a longboard which i really did not enjoy,

also, any recomendations on surf spots at either beach? i know the naval jetties near bethany are pretty good but dont know anything about myrtle.

suggestions?

i used to go to Bethany for a week for a couples summers. Sick waves, like the year katrina hit, they had to close down the beaches because the waves were enormous.

the beaches that are part of the private communities are good, not crowded at all, but obviously your going to have some trouble getting kicked out and all

i always see people surfing when you drive over this bridge on your way to bethany.

yeah, i surfed there. those are the jetties that guard the inlet to the bay, about 3 miles north, sickest waves around that i know of.

my friend has a house in bethany hes there right now but he says they dont have good surfing. he said myrtle is better if you want to surf.

when i went to myrtle beach everyone there used a 6' board we had a 6' and an 8' the 8' one was a lot easier but eventually got the hang of the 6'

i think i might go with a 6'6" board because im a bit tall, but i definitely want something that i can still throw around pretty easily.
