Anyone skiing K2 Seth's in the park?

I got hooked up with a pair of Seth's today in a 179. It's a little shorter than I'd like for my big mountain ski, so I was gonna get rid of it. However, if they're even halfway decent in the park I was going to hold onto them to replace my TMs.

Keep in mind 90% of my park skiing is done on the east coast. Thanks for the input.
 
ive seen it done........ it depends on how big you are, and how agressive you are..... but most likely it wouldnt be ideal for yore park ski.........
 
nah man if your that big they should be no problem for you^. i rode my friends for a month when he went on vacation and they were fine. rails were a little harder to sw up and stuff but manageable...keep in mine im 5'7 135 lbs and was ridin 179's...id keep em if i were you
 
im goin to have to use my guns for park from now on and im really small.inless i can find some cheap park skis those are my only option.
 
I just mounted up a pair of 189's to use for messing around and hitting bc jumps. Not quite ideal, but it's what I had. I think they'd be a sweet park ski, but I've always been all about the slow rotations and simple tricks--mostly because I'm not much of a jibber. I think it all depends on your style and what you want in a ski. Since they're new, you still have the option of trading for something else really nice.
 
I have 179's mounted at plus 5 for all mountain. I have a park ski for park but these work all right in there. If you are gonna use them for just park, mount them more forward then plus 5. I love my Seth's they are my favourite ski out of all my skis.
 
i used to ride my 179s in the park, very fun, really stable on rails and landings. mount em much farther forward than reccomended though. i wish i still had em, they rock!
 
I'm the same height as you, about 10 pounds heavier, and I ride 179 Seths as my park ski. I love them. Absolute center, FKS120s, it's a great park set-up. I'd suggest you keep it. You can still spin plenty fast and do switch ups and stuff.
 
I knew a few guys who rode centred Seths as their park skis in Whistler and seemed to like them. Landings would be very stable. I don't like wide skis on rails though, and they'll be heavier than any jib ski. I'd sell them and get some park skis, you'll probably save money. And if they're 07/08's then those aren't meant to be as nice on groomers anyway because of the tip rise.
 
I occasionally take my seth pistols into the park and they handle it alright. Super solid when landing. They have a pretty heavy swing weight so they're obviously not that great for spinning and such, but they can do the job.

I wouldn't use seths in the park regularly though.
 
^I have to disagree with these 2 guys. I love fatter skis on rails, it's so much more stable! I skied on my friends STLs for a day, and I was slipping and sliding everywhere on the rails, I hated it. And personally I think swing weight is just an NS catchphrase that doesn't mean much, I don't have any problem spinning on Seths.
 
my last to pairs of skis were 182 centermounted moships and now 185 centermounted 185 arvs. i ski in WI, an di love it. fattness equals stability.
 
Nomen, that is obvious.

The "swing weight" on a snowblade is obviously lower than a fat ski, but also lower than a skinny park ski to. However the swing weight between a Seth Vicious and say a more park-centric ski...like an ar6, is not nearly as felt. The Seth is a very fun park ski, either coast.

Your hyperbole is just that, a hyperbole.
 
Swingweight only really comes into play for really tech rails. On kickers it's no big deal, the exra weight carries you around smoothly. If I ever borrow friends' short skis I'm never as smooth in the air.
 
swing weight definitely comes into play with seths, especially if they are 189cm and mounted back for big mountain like they're supposed to be. A 189 seth is a big ski to spin with, I know cause I have 'em.

I think the 179 would be fine for park though.
 
I ride 179 pistols as my park ski. I did however use to use them as an all mountain ski and they held up alright when I weighed 160lbs. I'm now 175 and ride bigger stuff out west so I've got bigger skis for all mountain/big mountain/powder.
 
Well, looks like I'm gonna be keeping them. Next question. Where to mount them. I'd like to keep some sort of all mountain feel to them, without being so far back that I can't use them in the park.

Forgive all the questions, but I've never owned a Seth before, so I don't know where they recommend mounting them.
 
If you're gonna be riding park with them, which you are... mount them at core centre on the graph. They should still be decent all mountain there. I have mine mounted at +5 for all mountain. If I was gonna use them for more of a park specific ski, I would def want them a little further forward. See what others say though, that is my opinion.
 
Seth skis them at +5 I've heard. True centre is +12.5, "core centre" is +7.5 so 5cm back of centre - I'd go there.
 
it does not matter on ur height or weight it depends on the way u ski. ride them for a day see if u like em
