Anyone Ride Volkl Ones?

I bought myself a pair for deeper powder days, when I get enough money to leave my basement. How are they in powder at 116 underfoot?

I’m wondering what others think of these skis and Volkl in general. I know I’ve heard horror stories regarding durability.

Good Powder skis. The recommended mounting position is quite far back 10-15 from center) so it takes a while to get used to. Due to the rocker profile they don't handle groomers or variable conditions very well. I'd say mount them a couple of centimeters forward from recommended and they should handle other conditions a bit better.

Bought a pair this year, skied them 3 times. But never in anything over 2-4 inches of snow because the east coast sucks.

For recommended mounting point: I have K2 recoils and Atomic Punx center mounted as well as Sir Francis Bacons mounted at Pollard mount which is either 2 or 2.5cm back from center, so quite close to center. So I’m more of a freestyle background orientated skier.

I’ve heard the Volkl one is great for backcountry jibbing and freestyle, I just don’t want to mount too far back but not so close to center that I compound its All-mountain performance.

Any input would greatly be appreciated!

Yes, I’ve heard by a few that mounting closer to center helps with carving on groomers. Although, you wouldn’t buy this ski for that reason anyway.

+2 of recommended

Even that seems pretty far back. They have traditional at 0, Schizo series at +3 and Freestyle at +5. Obviously, the shape of the ski comes into play but it still seems like too little tail. +5 is 3 inches probably a little more back from true center.

I got mine mounted at +4.5, I rode them yesterday through the park for like 3 hrs and enjoyed were they were mounted. Felt perfect location, but I like my skis mounted a little more forward.

I as well. The farthest back are my SFB’s which are 2.5cm back from true center. All my other skis are center mounted.

It’s hard to determine where to mount bindings on the Volkl One’s because I obviously want them to ski how they were meant to ski but again, I don’t want them so far back that my tails are gone. I want a golden mean; freestyle jibbing all around the mountain that still is stable.
